bolt over-riding on an AK

I recently adjusted the bolt rails inside the receiver of an AK. Now the rifle will fire 3-4 rounds before the bolt only half-way strips a round from the magazine and then slips over the top of the round without feeding it into the chamber. This has happened with multiple different magazines...

Any thoughts?

Why did you "adjust the bolt rails"?

Does it do this with different magazines?

That right there might be your problem.

If they are "adjusted" too high the bolt carrier will run over the rounds in the magazine.

I agree with RC...is there a reason you adjusted the rails?

It does it with any magazine placed in it.

I peened the rails upward to match with the lands that are in front of the breech, they were too low causing the bolt to collide with the lands and causing failure to chamber the rounds, as well as excessive wear on the bolt and the lands.

Thanks for the advice-- I'll have to re-measure:)

Sounds like a defective receiver.

Care to share the manufacturer?
