Hi, all,

This isn't really about hunting (unless you count hunting for geocaches :) see www.geocaching.com) but I was hoping that maybe some of the duck hunters here could answer a question on tidal flat navigation.

Next week, I'm going to be walking around the tidal flats of PRNJ. I've got the hip boots at the ready. Do any of the seasoned waterfowl hunters here have any advice on how to make the going easier?

Thanks,

Left it in my other pants. Can someone here rent me a hovercraft? ;)

In the low country part of SC, locals use sheets of plywood when needing to work on docks, reach stuff, etc., etc. I imagine cutting one 4 x 8 sheet in two would enable you to move quite nicely. Lay one out, walk, place the other in front, repeat...

YMMV - :D

I've watched some wildlife biologists do field trips on tidal flats of the Texas coast. OLD tennis shoes, bathing suit and lotsa bugspray. Day pack to tote their accoutrements of one sort or another. I think they referred to it as a "Slog & Stink" day.
