Old Model Single Six grip frame

I've chased this topic all over the Internet in the last couple of days, and have read a bewildering array of posts and articles that never quite provide the answer to my question. Can I replace the aluminum grip frame on my old model Single Six with a steel grip frame, and if so, how (short of sending it to Ruger)?
I see that Midway offers a steel frame, but I'm shaky on the details.

Is this frame blued steel? Whether it's steel or anodized aluminum, fitting means filing, so why is the grip frame 'blued' in the picture? I guess I need to hear from someone who has done this.
Thanks!

I'm guessing they're selling a Ruger part in the white. John
From Ruger www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/PDF/PartsBooklets/D10.pdf
"GRIP FRAME NOTE: Grip frames for Super Blackhawk, Blackhawk and Single-Six revolvers are interchangeable. Steel and stainless steel gripframes are available from the parts department. These components are supplied, “in the white”, unfinished and require final fitting and match polish-ing by the customer. Factory installation of steel grip frames which includes match polishing, to the frame, and complete refinishing of the revolverand new grip frame is available. Note: The factory will not fit stainless steel components to blued steel revolvers and visa versa. Bisley model gripframes are not directly interchangeable with Blackhawk revolvers"

Buy the Ruger Old Army steel gripframe from Brownells, P/N 780-000-115.
It comes in the white. Requires fitting and bluing after fitting. Not hard to do just take your time.

Conversely, are there aluminum frames that could be retrofitted to a new Single-Six? The Super Single-Six is nice, but it weighs as much as a real Peacemaker
