So I sold my friend the 870 shotgun I bought a few weeks ago yesterday. We were near Scottsdale Gun Club and I decided that my newly gained cash was weighing me down. So we went in and this little guy was eyeing me the moment I walked in the door. So I picked it up for $499. Havent shot it yet but will give a report when I do.

It would have caught my eye as well. However, I need some education on what it is please.

I've got half an eyeball on one of those but I'm considering the new M&P 15-22 as well. If the S&W isn't released soon one of those is in my future.

Post an update and let us know how it performs for you.

It is a GSG-5 .22 carbine, they are an almost exact copy of a HK MP-5 and I luuuuuuuuv mine:D:D:D:D
The weight, handling characteristics, and the controls are very close to an MP-5 at about 1/6 the cost of a real one ;)(which I could never afford).
I have shot an MP-5 and it is a great weapon but the cost factor makes them unreachable for most people. :what:
Plus you get the bonus feature of being able to afford to shoot it.:)

I have a brother-in-law who is on the SWAT team here and after he shot mine he asked if he could borrow it and let the Sherrif fire it, he was so impressed with it that he purchased three of them for his team to use to get some "range time" without the cost of 9mm rounds.

This is this! It's not something else it's this!

Don't pull it if you don't plan to use it, and don't use it if you don't plan to kill!

I looked at one, and handled it, nice. The gunshop wanted way too much though. Very light except the long barrel of course but feels good in the hands.

I got to fire one in AZ last summer. Waaaaay different than the bolt action I do most of my .22 shooting on. Very fun rifle to shoot.

I sold the shotgun because I bought it to use at work and it wasnt the right model. I had a thread about the whole thing but the skinny is I bought a nicely done up 870 Express and a work gun has to be the Police model.

Then I find out this week that Im back on the list for a rifle, and they dont like us to have a rifle and shotgun. Plus I prefer the Mossbergs since I grew up with them and used them in the Army. I sold it to my friend for what I payed and got something I will use and enjoy a lot more and he got almost exactly what he was looking for. Win-Win.

I just picked one up a few weeks ago. You can see mine in the GSG-5 picture thread. Have yet to have a chance to try it out at the range yet either. Just got my new screw pack to replace the stock screws. From what I hear it is one of the best upgrades you can do along with some blue loctite.

Far superior how? More accurate, sure. Yet the only reason I bought my GSG-5 was for fun. I have accurate rifles, I have combat ready rifles, but this is my only .22 and my only purely fun rifle.

As far as magazines, you can order them online from a number of suppliers. I purchased mine locally at the shop where I purchased the rifle. I slapped on the collapsible stock, slim fore grip, rubber pistol grip sleeve, and a magazine clamp to hold two at a time. Other than the screw set I mentioned earlier I don't think I'll be spending another dime on this rifle, except for lots of ammo that is.

Here's some good sites for magazines and such.

I think extra mags are 25-30 bucks around here.

I do know that for the same price I could have had a nice accurate 10-22. But I dont think it would be as fun as this rifle. And since thats the reason I bought it, Im not to worried.

My boss and i put one together for him last summer, what a blast!!! first off, it is made to buy the hi cap mags, and clamp two together. next, there is a muzzle clamp and rail, that will go around that shroud, and you should hang a light off of that, from the bottom. then, the top rail can also take a mount, and it screams for a green light laser. We took this out on his ranch at evening time, and cowitnessed the light, and the laser, at about 50 yards. My boss, being not rifle shooter at all. proceeded to rapid fire eat out the center of a paper target at the 50 yards, with the green laser directing the way. then at night, the laser can be seen, visibly from the sides, to infinity, or right through tree limbs, so cool. I would definitely do the add ons.

I saw this in the store, and it looks cool...but if you already own a 10/22 it'd be a little less expensive to just customize that. Still, this thing looks like it'd be a blast to shoot.

Definitely two thumbs up on the laser for the GSG. I have access to a private garbage dump where we go and shoot rats at night. Man, what fun :D The shooting is hot and we have gone through as much as 1000 rounds (two bricks) in one session. Hundreds of dead Rata's and a darned good way to hone your instinctive or "point" shooting. Some of them take a couple of rounds to dispatch if you "Wing it".

Me says to girlfriend;

"Honey! Put that down! That's NOT A KITTEN! ITS TAIL IS BALD!"
