1 inch maple with a knob. Stained with maple and then polyed

An interesting vine of unknown to me wood. Very hard and does not break when smashed on tree trunks or concrete blocks. ( the test I use before starting to finish a cane.)
This one will be stained red oak and polyed

Whoa doc, great canes!!

How'd you make the top for the maple cane?

I wonder if those are some very large wild grape vines? They do grow in the eastern hardwood forrest, and when they get big, are some really tough wood. Neat to have a cane with interwined vines!!

Carl.
top was bought a craft store for $1.98. Since then Bil says I can use his wood lathe. Cant wait to get started.

Thanks for the compliments guys, Gonna make a call later I suspect it is a grape vine as I found it on an abandoned lot in what used to be a garden.
