A few P220 questions

Hi all,

Does Sig make a threaded barrel for the P220? If not, who does, and still keeps it the same accuracy, out of the box?

Also, I see everyone refers to the steal frame version as P220 ST, but looking on their 2003 price list, I only see, P220 S and SSS.

What is the siglite night sight (sss)?

What are the best prices for the P220 SSS that you guys have found? New 2003, not on any auction site?

Also, does it fit big hands well? Is it good for CCW? I know it's big, but still. What are some good CCW holsters for this? I'm not 21 yet, but when I turn 21, I don't want to have to buy another gun.

Thanks!

I've never seen a P220 with a threaded barrel... not sure if they exist.

Sig doesn't like to advertize their ST models for some reason. Why, I can't figure out. They are some of the finest duty type handguns in the world, IMO. The 220st typically runs about 750 bucks, I think.

Siglites are factory night sights. They add about 80 bucks to the cost of a factory gun. I've never heard anyone say they aren't worth the money. I don't have any personal experience with them.

It fits big hands fine, and is argueable better for CCW than a 226 because it uses a thinner single stack mag, so the grip is thinner. I have a 226, and like it just fine too. As long as you don't mind the weight, it will conceal.

Any of the custom hoslter manufactures should make a holster for a 220. Its a pretty popular gun.

So is there an ST with night sight version? What is this model called? And the S model is still alloy, just with the finish being stainless steel?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what the S and SSS models you are talking about are.

The current production models come in the following two major configurations:

1) Alloy frame with milled stainless slide.
2) Milled stainless frame with milled stainless slide. (ST model)

I imagine you could get siglites on either.

Another thing you might want to think about is if you want a rail or not. I can't comment on rail availability on a P220 (not sure if they offer them or not) but you might want to find out if they do and decide if you want one. On the 226, all the ST models come with a rail, and a rail is an option on the alloy frame model, called the 226R. Not sure if it works the same way on the 220.

You might want to check out and/or call www.onpointfirearms.com with questions about Sigs. They sell many Sigs and would likely be able to answer any specific availability question.

Thanks for the link, but it still seems they have it named something else in their PDF price list.

Any ideas which one the ST is?

Thanks!

Well, if their site was up,

http://www.awcsystech.com/nexus.htm

makes silencers, and supply the barrel for the P220. Is there not a performence hit and then the P220 would not be so accurate out of box?

Correct me if I am wrong,

Thanks!
