Hey guys, this is my first time here. I have to write a paper about a presidential canidate for 2004 for a class I'm in. I'd like to write to about why Clark isn't the best choice to lead our country. It would be a huge help if anyone could give me any information, or direct me to some sources thout could help me. Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Pardon the first post and the light-stepping of any posts afterwards. We get quite a few trolls over here that start off with light and nice-sounding topics and inquiries, especially in the realm of politics.
Watch out on DU. There is a BUNCH of flaming, ranting, and a general lack of civility between 99.99999999% of all the posters there. And it makes anyone with more than 10 brain cells have a splitting headache.
Good luck in your quest. Have you tried his campaign site? Google for "Howard Dean 2004" and you will come up with a plethora of stuff.

Wait a second. If this is who I think it is then he is not a troll. Rather somebody I know. I suggested that this is the place to find good L&P info.

Here are the results of a search with some Clark details.
Does anyone have a cite for him almost starting WWIII with the Russians?

Clark is easy to explain. He is an egomanic thursting for power with no real message or platform, and apparently very little knowledge of many issues. Even the Democrats sneer at him.
He supposedly graduated at the top of his class at West Point (1966?) and taught economics, forget where. He did at least one combat tour in Vietnam and was apparently rather severely wounded. He was a Division commander and NATO commander.
Apparently, there are many officers and former officers in the military who generally dislike Clark including the recently retired Joint Chiefs of Staff Chariman, General Hugh Shelton.

General Shelton, who essentially sacked Clark from his job in Kosovo, stated the following about him:
"I've known Wes for a long time. I will tell you the reason he came out of Europe early [i.e., was forced to step down as commander of U.S. forces in Europe] had to do with integrity and character issues, things that are very near and dear to my heart. I'm not going to say whether I'm a Republican or a Democrat. I'll just say Wes won't get my vote."
Shelton is no lightweight, serving 2 combat tours in Vietnam with Special Forces and Airborne units. As Clark's boss, he had plenty of basis to judge his performance and ethics.

My personal view is that Clark is quite intelligent from an academic point of view, but a mediocrity as a military leader and completely amoral.

Sean, that sounds almost like a description of Clinton. Drop the "military leader" part, though.

Don't forget to add hypocrite and/or liar.
Seems he's been caught speaking out of both sides of his mouth. When it suited his purposes he was praising Bush and his administration night and day. Guess he thought the lip service (pun intended) might get him somewhere.) When he realized that Bush wasn't biting, he got pissed and "switched" sides. And now you can find him badmouthing GW and Co. till the cows come home.

Hey, let's have more respect for General Jell-o! He'll come up with his positions as soon as the polls are in.

Welcome to THR, Rekoe
Clark - Rhodes Scholar.
Klinton - Rhodes Scholar.
Clark - Military.
Klinton - No Military.
I'm in AR, Lets just say I will not vote for Clark. Sean Smith knows his military info., others can better give non military record. Basically , It's been said , besides the military and wives...If the contents of the folders of the two dropped of each...oh heck...whats the difference...just put one in a folder and go on.

Hey again. I guess I should have mentioned that Corriea (my brother in law) sent me here to get info on Clark. Looking around I've found that Clark was actually tried for war crimes for some of the things he did in Kosovo. Thanks for the help so far, and please, keep it coming.

Tried for war crimes? When, where? Some nitwit leftists think he's guilty of war crimes, but that's about it as far as I know. Not everything amoral or immoral is a war crime.
