Well, it was today.
I wouldn't have know about it at all, except that I had to drop of my daughter at her job, right around the corner from the Expo Center where it was being held.
I don't get paid until next week, and it's been a thin year in any case . . . so . . .
I went just long enough to drool.
They had $200 custom knives for $80. $150 customs for $75.
The usual 50% and 60% off on factory blems -- you know, a polishing error, minor scratch, whatever -- and they knock at least half off.
Some new blade shapes -- gorgeous stuff -- for $38 (MSRP $90).
A whole range of 295s, 297s, and 298s (assisted open knives, really solid, nice in the hand) for half off.
And so on. I could have wept.
Gawd, I hate being broke when they have that sale.
However . . .
There was news.
From the horse's mouth:
It's official: Buck Knives is bringing home the bulk of its overseas production by the end of the year, and sometime next year they hope to have brought it all back to the US.
That's right.
They've decided that having part of their production overseas is doing the company more harm than good.
This may mean that certain lines will be discontinued, but the classics will remain, and the number of US-made Buck Knives models will increase significantly.
There ya go.
