If you are driving along the road and encounter a very very extreme situation there might be a time where you'd unscrew your square flashlight and take out this batter to throw at the enemy.

Possible the same for other battery and flashlights.

Unless you're very good at throwing and hitting a target, potentially moving, the best you might hope for is a distraction.

OTOH, drop one of those into a sack and use it like a sap and you might have a handy impact tool.

It always surprises me how few people reaize how dangerous a weapon their car is. Even a little car. It used to drive me bonkers in the 70's when you had those biker movies, where the big bad bikers would chase a family in a station wagon, beat on the hood with chains, and force the car off the road.

An 1800 pound VW beatle is a leathal weapon.

Now cars have become cult worship object status symbols that they don't want to geta little scratched or dented up. Bad guys count on that.

Okay why pray tell would somebody take the battery out instead of just throwing the whole thing. And there is this thing called a rock. grows all over the place. Next thing somebody will come up with a quick release for the steering wheel as a non fireare weapon.
That and a guy could go his whole life time and never actually see any kind of situation that would require even thinking about a plan of action.
