This is a custom Take Down Recurve built just for me out of Purple Heart, Kingswood, & Curly Maple accents with Bacote Limbs from www.zonacustombows.net (http://www.zonacustombows.net/)
Bill does a beautiful job in creating exactly what the customer wants in a bow from Long Bows & Recurves to Take Down models & he's very resonable in the price too.
Communicating with Bill is like talking to a close friend, he gives you general ideas & sets up the game plan of what you want in the end product, from the down payment to having this fine bow at my door only took 3 months & he's got a real job too!!
So to say that I was suprised to have my new toy in my hands it is meant in the best way.
If any of you thought of a nice Traditional bow give Zona a look.
Later today I plan to do some more shooting & maybe get a few more pictures.

Congrats on your bow arriving. Bill did such a nice job on it !! And, agreed... Bill is a joy to deal with. You gonna go with a quiver full of new cedars for it?

If'n when you're ready to consider some new cedars... I found a feller on eBay that does some pretty nice (simple) ones in varied weight ratings that are pretty nice. The only caution I've found with them is... when he glues the tips on... he doesn't give 'em a twist to ensure that glue gets all the way around the entire tip of the shaft... and some of the tips pop loose after a while. That's an easy fix though... a dozen for about $40, fletched with L/W feathers, nocked, tipped.

His name is Steve Bingham. Seems to be pretty good people all in all. I bought a couple of bow kits from him and a dozen arrows.
Really nice recurve Voodoochile... I see it has a Black sting and Black bands on the arrows... Close E 'Nuff :O)

What is the draw length and weight?I had a 64lb Marriah TD that broke on me at full draw, scary.
BHP I have a 5in shield cutter for feathers, and a jig for glueing left or right hand .I would love to make some from scratch with turkey feathers.
I have a 65lb Saxon Knight, and a 70 lb ridgerunner made by a guy named coffin from the bitter root;also have a 45lb gull wing recurve I've never pulled.

Well she's 60" tip to tip, 52* @ 28" draw & I am a 27.75" so I'm pulling about 51#, very smooth.
I have a few Bear Grizzlys in 45# & 50# & a T/D Recurve by Ragim that shoots very well for the price in 50#.
Since I'm edging 40 & still have to work on peoples cars for a living "which isn't the best occupation for your sholders & back" I'll keep my bows weight below 60# where I can enjoy them for many years taking anything from Squirels to Elk.
My next bow will be a 60# @ 28" for Elk.
Really nice recurve Voodoochile... I see it has a Black sting and Black bands on the arrows... Close E 'Nuff :O)
Yeah it'll work for now but when the cold weather hits & I make my order for some Cedars I'll experiment with some cresting ideas to match the bow, the picture does it no justice but what you can't see in the string is 2 strands of purple to match, I need to find me some purple B50 somewhere.

You're right. Not black powder related. Moved to non-firearms forum.
Nice recurve.
