These people got over 3 million kids to sign their little oath of pacifism in 2002.

There's nothing that says "idiot" like pledging to allow criminals to remove you from the gene pool.
But the second part of the pledge is just fine. I don't think the kind of disputes it is referring to are the kind that need resolution by gunshot.

The student pledge:
"I will never bring a gun to school;
I will never use a gun to settle a personal problem or dispute;
I will use my influence with my friends to keep them from using guns to settle disputes.
My individual choices and actions, when multiplied by those of young people throughout the country, will make a difference. Together, by honoring this pledge, we can reverse the violence and grow up in safety."
The pledge for younger children:
"If I see a gun, I won't touch it.
I will remember that any gun I see might be loaded.
I know how important it is to keep myself safe"

I don't know. What they say, I tend to agree with. Some of it, like "If I see a gun, I won't touch it. I will remember that any gun I see might be loaded" are what we tell our oun children, if not ourselves, daily (usually not the 'no touching' bit...unless we are in a gunstore with an itchy wallet...) "I know how important it is to keep myself safe" is heavily promoted by damm near everyone on this site. Many of us have taken to heart the idea that "My individual choices and actions, when multiplied by those of young people throughout the country, will make a difference."
What they mean by this pledge, I don't agree with at all. Total civilian disarmament is not a viable solution in order to "grow up in safety". Inculcating a phobia of firearms in children, and total reliance on the various police forces, as they go through school is definatly a way for them to be endangered as adults; I dont mean as individuals, but as a society. Certainly, I don't like a number of the sponsoring organizations they have listed for a number of reasons.
Remember: just because the messenger is a swine, doesn't necessarily mean the message is swill. This does not mean you have to invite the pig into your house, either.

The sooner leftist extremists begin indoctrinating people, the easier their task.
