Is Breakfree Powder Blast any less harmful than Gun Scrubber or Brakleen, or does it just smell better?

Got to http://www.break-free.com/products/msds/msds_powder_blast.pdf

The MSDS shows methylene chloride, which is pretty irritating stuff. Not sure it qualifies as "cancer in a can" like chlorinated brake cleaner, but it's not something I'd use for clearing my sinuses.

I'd guess fewer health effects from long-term exposure, but you still would run the risk of acute symptoms from using it without ventilation...

that would be the methylene chloride, which is the active ingredeient in paint remover. You know the burning when you get that on your skin, and I hate to think what it would do to your eyes if you had some overspray.

I've used two different "flavors" of Powder Blast.

The older type is more caustic, will melt plastic, linoleum floors, smells really bad, and does bad things to skin.

The newer type smells more like oranges, and is safe on all types of plastic I tried it on. It seems to clean just as well.

Tje link to the Powder Blast MSDS is current. Methylene chloride is still listed as an ingredient. Still sounds like too nasty a gun cleaner for me to use...but hey, that's me. I'm a hot soap and water guy for that matter.

To quote an old TFLer, give your guns a bath, they'll love it
