Dog Shoots Owner in North Idaho

A shooting in Athol this week has left a woman with serious leg injuries. However, the victim is not angry with the shooter at all. In fact, both are living in the same house.
It started when Cindy Whitaker heard some sort of ruckus in her backyard - she feared it may be a bobcat or other animal who was trying to harm her pets. So Cindy, who is wheelchair bound, wheeled outside with a pistol. She went to check on her husband's dog, Baby, because she heard some odd noises coming from Baby's doghouse. When she opened the door, baby came rushing out, knocking the gun and Cindy to the ground - Baby then accidentally stepped on the gun and the gun went off.
The bullet is still lodged in Cindy's leg, however, doctor's are hopeful for Cindy's full recovery. As for baby, Cindy and her husband say they hold no ill well towards the animal who was just being a dog. The Whitakers say their accident is a good reminder to gun owners that safety locks on weapons can come undone if a weapon is dropped.

Didn`t something like this just happen in Mexico? Are you sure your pets aren`t accessing the PETA website when you`re asleep? Never mind gun safeties, we may need computer safeties!

You know, this is not an isolated event. I can think of 3 or 4 such events in just the last few years. Now I don't know what sort of SHTF scenarios y'all are preparing for, but the true SHTF scenarios are going to be the ones for which you have not considered necessary preparation. Given the number of dog shootings of humans, I am inclined to believe there is a viable and lethal working sleeper cell of dogs out there, maybe countless cells, and they are awaiting the awakening command to break the enslaving grip of control humans have over dogs and not doubt intend to make things right, potentially with the end result being death to all humans or enslavement. These isolated events are no doubt situations in which humans may have unintentionally discovered clandestine dog operatives and needed to be neutralized or were shot to keep them from discovering the master plan.
Don't laugh. The incidence of dogs shooting humans seems to be on the rise and there is nobody right now who is prepared for such a contingency!

Why would you want to go outside to check out a noise with a gun that had a trigger lock (assume they mean this, rather than the gun's safety) on? Poorly worded, no matter what. Gun was probably a ".357 ACP semi-automatic 15 round assault revolver," but the writer forgot to include the details.

Yea, it sure sounds like she went out there with some sort of triggerlock on the gun. I have a feeling the writer is mixed up and/or ignorant of the implication of their statement:scrutiny:

Just proves my case that CCW isn't always needed just having a gun nearby is enough. That will teach her not to invade Baby's home.D
