Here is what happens when you combine the following

Lee classic turret
RCBS uniflow measure
Hornady case activated powder drop
Hornady powder through expansion die

Looks Great! You might want to try one of these PTX's (http://www.lnlptx.com/). Works for most handgun calibers & flares the cases better than the Hornady PTX. Keep up the good work.

I've used the RCBS hopper with the Hornady CAPD before i bought my second Hornady hopper. Works great.

I think it is cool but doesn't somehow take away from the coolness of the Lee Classic Turret? I don't have one but I am a big fan of this Lee Classic Turret kit and I think they (LEE) hit one out of the stadium on this one.

Adding function to a device doesn't take anything away from it. If I thought the classic turret was a turd I would have gotten a different press :)

The classic turret is great, I purchased just the press, and rather than spend a few bucks to get the autodisc powder setup, I choose to make use of something much nicer I already had sitting here. True, I paid more for the hornady linkage than an autodisc setup would have been, but I have infinite adjustability and a roomy hopper for powder to handle long loading sessions. :neener:

Unfortunately, my reloading area is on the same very large workbench for the garage and other stuff. It has several very big vices, grinders, drill press, mig welder etc.. attached to it. Obviously, I NEVER keep powder here, or primers for that matter. I bring those out only while reloading and NOT doing anything else in the garage work area :) It's fine to keep some dies, and tools etc... on the bench all the time, but powder, primers and welders do NOT go well together. There is also chop saws, and other assorted metalworking goodies under the bench.

Do you have to use the Hornady powder through expansion die? Won't the Lee expansion die work? I've been thinking of the same upgrade for my classic cast turret for some time now.

I have a Lyman 55 would that work instead of the RCBS uniflow?

I don't have any lee dies, and my redding dies didn't come with an expansion die, so I ordered the hornady ptx to solve 2 problems with 1 solution.

Thanks rokchucker! Next time I place an order I'm getting the Hornady case activated powder drop. I'm gonna see if I can get it to work with my Lyman 55. Unless, I come accross a used RCBS Uniflow at a decent price!

From the midway pictures of the lyman 55, I am not sure it has the correct holes on the drum where the handle mounts. Take a close look at the picture and see where the bracket is attached to the powder measure where normally the powder throw handle is mounted. That lyman is different.??

I think I may have worded it wrong. Looks like this should work fine. I am just saying that I like the LCT. By the way, how is it working out for you. Have you had to fine tune anything?

I still haven't had a chance to run a large batch through it, the testing I have done is fine, works great.

here in Florida we have officially entered that time of year where it is just too damned hot to be outside for very long. This combined with the recent indoor range suicides is currently keeping me out of the indoor ranges for the time being. No way am I going to be around when someone plugs themselves in the head with a rented 45....
