Anyone know anything about a Browning Ranger 12ga?
My uncle has a Browning 12 ga, the only markings on the receiver are "Ranger" with an engraving of a riders head by a horse head and the Serial # of U 233xx on the underside behind the triggerguard.
Is there an actual model #? I couldn't find anything listed at Browning's website under older guns at all.
Any help is appreciated :D

Hello !
I think you might find something by looking at the Stevens model 520 pump shotgun. They were made from a Browning pat. & sold under the Ranger name on contracts. Some of these were marked "Browning Pat." or simular on the reciever. The later version of this pump was the Model 620 with a slope back reciever. (the 520 was squared off in the back). They were a good gun and a take down model to boot. By grasping the magazine tube and rotating it , it would loosen the takedown collar - then the barrel assy could be dropped down slightly - the action bar slid forward , and the whole barrel assy slid downwards out of the reciever slots for the take apart feature.

Thanks for the info :)
His shotgun does say Browning on it. I should have taken some pictures, I think it was on the right hand side, Ranger on the left.
Other than that, it looks pretty much the same as the Stevens 520 you pointed out.

If my memory serves me right the Stevens with the scene you discribed might have been the Model 620 - these were the slope back later models of the 520 . The Reference to Browning would be on the left side - same as the Ranger wording. These guns were not produced by Browning , they were Stevens guns made based on Browning Patents . You will not find them under Browning guns .
