Bored last night, wife took kids to circus,so I strolled over to the local "Bass Pro"...went directly to the black powder counter, and to my surprise,no BP guns to be seen,I quickly spun around and looked at the powder shelves.Very little stuff left to say they were in the BP business.Only 2 cans of Pyrodex and 2 cans of FFFG.Some other odds and ends of BP,but the shelves were more bare than ever.Whats the take?

Either, they are getting out of BP ,or down here no one is buying BP. Even our hunting doesn't require a BP rifle for hunting. We have no BP season. I think the same thing happened with bow hunting, now that we can use cross bows.

They have just started ramping up their online inventories. Expect hardware to reach stores mid July to mid August prior to local hunting seasons.

Caution:
Individual store inventories are managed by the store manager, not a corporate 'father', and that store manager is subject to variables in the distribution supply chain. You can't assume that what happens at your local Bass Pro is a corporate decision happening at all Bass Pro stores. It MAY be, but you can't assume it. And to make matters worse, the floor clerks often have no idea what the reasons are for what's going on, so asking them will only get their theories. Call the store manager, say something nice like, "I really like to shop in your store but I notice your inventory of blue widgets is low, and I really need some. Can I expect some more soon?"

I asked the mgr in person, and he said: "We still have some, but their behind the counter"...he also said as soon as they get powder in its sold....the case where the revolvers where, is now filled with knives.I did see some "Traditions" with a kit hanging on a self service shelf.

I was in Bass Pro, San Antonio, yesterday. Had all grades (FFG, FFFG,) pellets, and most of the substitutes on the shelves. Percussion caps, and rifles/pistols available. Just my observation.

For Goex you have to ask salesman behind the counter at firearms sales
