Cheap Spotting Scope?

Where is a good place to buy a good cheap spotting scope? I was thinking ebay but I do not know the good brands, nor the cheap ones to avoid. I will only be using this scope out to around 200 yards max (max my range allows) so I don't want anything much more powerful than that. I also would like to spend less than $100 if possible.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I bought an el Cheapo CStar from Sports Authority since I had $50 in gift cards to use either there or at Cabela's. Works fine for the 100 yard range here. Haven't tried it at 200 though.

What power is needed for that kind of range.(100~200)
I'm looking for one too. I currently use a set of 10x 50's or 12x 25's binoculars. The 10's seem to work better on the range even though the 12's have more power.

Try www.midwayusa.com. I've purchased a couple of inexpensive scopes from them and have been very impressed with their selection, price and service. The BSA scopes are good values IMHO

I've got a cheap spotting scope. It was good enough for fifty feet, but now that I'm shooting at twenty-five meters—I have no idea why we're using the French system—I'm going to have to replace it with something better: .22 caliber holes just don't show up clearly.

Thats where the 10X just isn't cutting it, looking for .22 holes out at 100.
It's getting pretty hard at 50.

I got mine from CDNN for around $30. It's worked just fine for me, out to 200 yards (though there's a lot more mirage than you'd pick up with an expensive spotter). It's a Simmons, and it is 15-45-powered. My friends all use it and agree it was a bargain.

Harbor Freight Tools sells some pretty low-cost, low quality scopes--for $10-$15. Can work well enough at 25 yards, but might not be much help at 250. Search there for keyword "scope". They carry some pretty cheap Russki gen1 NV stuff, too.

These are definitely not Leo's or Nikons, but can work for a lot of things. Besides, who wants to spend $500+ on a good brand-name spotting scope, just to watch it get scarred up from hot cases landing on it? -Or hitting the lenses? (eep!) ......With a $15 scope, who cares?

I use the Simmons from CDNN as well
I usually do my shooting out in the field
I wanted something that would not make me cry when, not if, I break it

You pay for what you get. BTW, I'd look into Eastern European optics if you can't buy Leupold.

I have a Russian made Yukon spotting scope that is very good out to 100 yards and probably more. I can see .22 holes at 100 yards.

I've got the 30x50 spotting scope (called the Scout I believe). It has good optics - the only downside I see is you have to do a lot of cranking to change the focus if you change the distance very much.

I have a Bushnell Sportview 20-60 zoom with 60mm objective lens. Fov. at 1000yrds is 70-20 It also comes with a tripod. I paid about $69 at cabelas two years ago. They are now listed at $89. I’ve seen them elswhere so you might shop around and find a lower price.
