Is Kahr ever coming out with a .45 ACP?

I usually carry a K9 9mm in warmer weather because of its small size. I like this gun, but prefer to carry when I can, my Taurus PT945 .45ACP. The PT945 is too big to carry in a t-shirt and jeans unless the t-shirt is VERY big and loose. A Kahr in .45 would be perfect. Does anyone know if Kahr has plans to manufacture a .45 in the near or not so near future? Am I the only one, or would anyone else like to see one?

I had heard rumors of this at one time, but lately heard it didn't work out. How about one in the new .45 glock round? It could be kept a bit smaller in the grip.........tom

I don't think so. Here's why.

Kahr bought Auto Ordinance some time ago. Why would they create internal competition??

Different market segments. The Kahr brand could be used to bring out a smaller, lighter, non-1911 pistol to compete with Glock. They keep the Auto Ordinance model for those that want a fullsized, 1911 type pistol.

I too would like to see one. I believe glock made a big mistake, if they would have went with a solid metal mag and mag catch on their single stacks they could have gone significantly thinnner.

Exactly, Chris.
That would be like saying that S&W, by making .357 Mag. J-frame revolvers, is creating internal competition for itself against it's L-frame .357 Mags.
Different market segments.
I'd be one of the first people in line to get a K-45, and I've written to Kahr on that aspect I don't know how many times.
I suspect that were they to ever get off their lazy azzes and put one together it would be VERY well received in the market.

I too would not mind seeing a Kahr K45, but it is not going to be as small and light or have the cartridge capacity of the current K series; it would have to be made larger. If it were made on the new T9 platform, that would be a nice gun, but it would be just about as large as the Taurus. Kahr might not want to develop and tool up for a gun in between those sizes unless there was a very high demand.

Exactly what I was thinking James.
I just read a review from the Kahr site, saying that the T9 was suitable for carry, and he wouldn't be surprised if it came out in a .40 cal version.
Why not .45?
I think Kahr could make a small, single stack .45, and I think the market would jump on it.
A good, compact 1911-style goes for ...what? $550 to "use your imagination"?
Kahr could make a small, steel .45 for under $600 easily.

I'd hope that everyone who wants one of these recognizes that that would be a given.
In the past I've never been much of a fan of the small .45s, but the concept of a small Kahr 45 does excite me.

Heck, a well made Commander (alloy frame) would be nice. I regret selling my Colt years ago.
