Deus Machina June 23, 2009, 04:57 AM The round or the guns? The bullets are still very much here. You can still find so 'defensive' loads (ehhhh...) and plenty of WWB around. The guns are mostly made by the Lorcin, Raven, and so on--the pop-and-drop type. The major manufacturers use better materials and methods, and can make .32's and the much-more-effective .380's not much larger than .25's. rrruuunnn June 23, 2009, 04:58 AM I meant handguns. Jorg June 23, 2009, 05:25 AM There are still a few places that make them. I think NAA, Beretta, and Taurus all make a .25. jackstinson June 23, 2009, 07:04 AM Here are a few .25acp's which are still being made; Beretta 21A Taurus PT25 CZ92 Precision Small Arms (Baby clone) Phoenix HP25 Jimenez JA25 Cobra D25 Note: The NAA Guardian 25 is not chambered for .25acp, it is for .25NAA (necked down .32acp). Jorg June 23, 2009, 07:17 AM Note: The NAA Guardian 25 is not chambered for .25acp, it is for .25NAA (necked down .32acp). You are correct. I hadn't looked at it that closely. rangerruck June 23, 2009, 11:10 AM also those naa rounds aint cheap, but they are some mean litle suckers!!!! searcher451 June 23, 2009, 02:38 PM I sometimes carry a Beretta Jetfire in .25 ACP as a BUG and have had a bit of success finding Winchester WB ammo at WallyWorld, even in these days of no ammo anywhere. The gun works flawlessly, even if the .25 leaves something to be desired. Big_John1961 June 23, 2009, 03:00 PM Seecamp also makes a .25 auto. toivo June 23, 2009, 03:03 PM Here are a few .25acp's which are still being made; Beretta 21A Taurus PT25 CZ92 Is the CZ92 still being made? I don't see it in their online catalog. rcmodel June 23, 2009, 03:25 PM The CZ 92 is still in production for foreign markets. http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&idp=1&ids=1&idz=1&lang=en They have never been imported into the U.S. except or testing & evaluation by a select few license holders, as they are too small & lack enough "features" to meet import restrictions imposed by the 1968 Gun Control Act. (The same law that killed the Baby Browning, Colt Junior, and Italian made Beretta Jetfire.) As far as I know, CZ-USA has no production capability to be able to make them in the U.S.. Your .25's still in production for U.S. markets are all made in the U.S.A. rc toivo June 23, 2009, 03:34 PM Your .25's still in production for U.S. markets are all made in the U.S.A. So the Taurus PT25 is made in the US? I didn't know that. rcmodel June 23, 2009, 04:35 PM Yep! Tauri has a plant in Miami, FL. that makes the ones they can't import. Note what it says on the side of this one. http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=172&category=Pistol&toggle=&breadcrumbseries= It may be that they can import some of the parts, (grips, mags, springs, etc) but the frame & probably the slide must be made in the USA to make it legal. Same deal with the Beretta .25 only it is made at the Beretta factory in Accokeek, Maryland. http://www.beretta.com/Pistols-Carbines/Defence/Pocket-Pistols/21-Bobcat/index.aspx?m=82&f=2&id=779 rc AgentAdam June 23, 2009, 05:30 PM I have been known to carry my grandpas old 70's Mint condition Colt Jr. made in Spain By ASTRA(cub) for Col'ts but now i have a new production USA made Beretta 21a Bobcat in black .25auto for carry and stainless(Inox) .22lr for practice and play. rcmodel June 23, 2009, 06:04 PM It's might be 60's Colt Jr. but not a 70's Colt Jr. They were no longer imported after the 1968 GCA. They could sell the ones already in the country but could not bring any more in after 68. rc moewadle June 23, 2009, 08:24 PM to your question......every Wal-Mart I have been in recently in Eastern Iowa area has .25 auto ammo available in WWB. pharmer June 23, 2009, 10:11 PM The CZ 92 is still in production for foreign markets. http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&id...&idz=1&lang=en They have never been imported into the U.S. except or testing & evaluation by a select few license holders, as they are too small & lack enough "features" to meet import restrictions imposed by the 1968 Gun Control Act. (The same law that killed the Baby Browning, Colt Junior, and Italian made Beretta Jetfire.) As far as I know, CZ-USA has no production capability to be able to make them in the U.S.. Man, if they scaled that CZ92 up to a 6 shot .380, they couldn't make enough to satisfy demand. Joe AgentAdam June 24, 2009, 12:56 AM I thought it was late 68/69 but I remember my grandmother used it occasionally from the 70's threw early 80's to get to her car at night when working in a bad part of Memphis. The Colt Jr. is the slimmest, smallest .25auto i know of but still built like a real gun, like a mini 1911. Wouldn't feed HP's like the Bobcat but i use FMJ for .25's anyways. The micro GI style sites are the best on a pocket pistol i have seen and I've been able to shoot it up to 25yards easily since i was a kid. There used to be brand new old stock barrels on ebay for 25 bucks and chrome colt mags on Gunbroker for 40ish but now the parts are getting allot more scarce so i have decided to just collect it. They are going for $450+ easily now. In this ammo scare .25auto is about all WallyWorld has had for pistol post election. I have been checking all of the Wallmarts(5) within a 100mile radius for the past 6-8 months and finally found 1 box of 9mm WWB bulk pack. Good thing i don't rely on them for ammo. usp9 June 24, 2009, 08:09 AM Seecamp also makes a .25 auto. Seecamp hasn't made a .25acp for about 20 years. They currently make .32 and .380 only. The few .25s around are hard to come by as they are somewhat collectable. jackstinson June 24, 2009, 08:54 AM It's might be 60's Colt Jr. but not a 70's Colt Jr. They were no longer imported after the 1968 GCA. Sorta......yes. The "Colt" Jr design was just an Astra Cub with Colt medallion grips and Colt markings slapped on it. Some even have Astra markings on the slide. However, after the 1968 laws went into effect, Colt did purchase licensing and tooling for the "Jr". In 1970 Colt began production of the "Colt Automatic Caliber 25", same gun without the "Jr" label. I think they ran for 3 years. I own a couple dozen .25acp pocket pistols (including an Astra Cub). The smallest I have is a Bauer clone of the Browning Baby. It's slightly smaller than the Astra Cub, but a little thicker. The Astra Cub is a better carry gun though, as it is perfectly safe to carry with a round in the chamber. My favorite .25acp has got to be my ancient Beretta 950B. 9 rounds, safe to carry loaded, utterly reliable, and one of the smaller .25acp pistols out there. They have been produced since the early 1950's until recently; in Italy, Brazil, and the USA.....so there are still lots of them available these days. Oh yeah, the Taurus catalog shows a new polymer frame version of the PT25 coming out this year. One interesting thing about the .25acp cartridge: It is still VERY much a popular cartridge. In these past few months of "ammo shortage"...even the oft-derided .25acp cartridge has also seen it's share of *sold out* online. I'd see a few boxes of WWB at Walmart, and now and then a box at a shop, but all of my normal online sources had none. I bought a case when I found Sellier & Bellot .25acp at J&G Sales for a low price. Big_John1961 June 24, 2009, 10:49 AM usp9, you are correct. I found that out later on the Seecamp website. Maybe a used one is available here and there, but none new.
