Just heard it on the news last night.While target practicing in his yard,a local man shot himself in the leg with what the news called a "large caliber handgun".The report said his gun malfunctioned.....more info to follow..:cool:

Michael Kelly was target shooting at 434 Devils Lane(the actual name of his road:uhoh: ) he had a problem with his 44 magnum revolver and shot himself in the lower leg between his knee and ankle........my guess is he screwed up and claimed the old "it's the gun's fault" defense.....he is said to be in fair condition at Alabny Medical center..:cool:

Either plain bad gun handling, or a hangfire and plain bad gun handling is all I can think of.

Back in the late '70s or early '80s I heard about quick draw. I got an old .36 blackpowder revolver and started practiceing. I got fairly good, so later that week I heard that the old gunfighters used to tie their triggers back.

Luckily after they cut my boot off, only the side of my little toe was gone.

So I would have to agree with the others here. Bad handling, or a defective brain to gun link.

Was this after you learned to cock the revolver while it was in the holster? I remember this was part of quick draw technique back then.

I propose a new game, sort of like the old "Clue" from Hasbro. But with people and injuries from THR.

You have to figure out which THF notable was involved, where the injury was incurred, and what the weapon of choice was.

"It was semf, in the pinkytoe, with a blackpowder revolver."
"It was BrokenPaw, in the big toe, with a highlands Claymore."
"It was LawDog, in the foot, with the armadillo".
"It was Lawdog, in the python, with the mongoose."
"It was LawDog, in the Santa mannequin, with his service weapon."
"It was LawDog, in the, well...everywhere, really, with a pyrocanthus bush."
"Id wud DlawDog, id da dode, wid a biggub-drugk doolbogks."

Stuff like that.

On second thought, this would be too easy, because most of the good ones begin with "It was LawDog..." Hmm.
