Removed the "read the book" rollmark from the Vaquero I bought Saturday. I did as much as I could, then took it to local smith for final polish. Pic don't do it justice. Whole gun matches original bright stainless.

I had the Gettysburg Address buffed off the barrel of my .44 Mag Bisley Vaquero at the same time that I had the scratches from my motorcycle wreck buffed out.

Haven't done it to my .38-40/10mm Vaquero yet, but plan to.

Funny story:
At the shop I worked at at the time, I handed the Bisley to the 'smith to work on, then went back to manning the counter. The owner went back in the shop with the 'smith to talk about some pending jobs. I heard the buffer spin up, bog down, and then came a sickening *CLANG!* Frantic, I ran back into the shop, with visions of a badly busted Vaquero cavorting in my head. Turns out that the 'smith had pressed a piece of barstock hard against the wheel and then the owner had thrown a wrench against the cinderblock wall. Those people were just sick. :scrutiny:

Ever read peanuts?
One of Charlie Brown's trademarks, a big black scribble appearing over his head was one of Shultz's inspired visualizations.
Now you know how charlie brown felt that exact moment...

clown714....I took the dreaded Dremel to it saturday night. Used mini sanding drum approx. 100 grit. Then had a few beers to calm down after seeing the mess I made of the barrel. Picked up work again using 400, then 600 grit. After 3-4 hours over sat. eve, sun. morning I put down sandpaper, and used Dremel with felt wheel and jewelers rouge. Two hours later it was free of sand marks and barrel was about 80% as shiney as rest of gun. At that point mon. I took it to Good smith by me and he final polished it in 25 mins, for $30. Next Vaquero just goesto him.
