Just saw one of the commercials and realized what you do to defeat the system is take a cel phone, calll the house, kick in the door and when the momo at the monitoring center calls, the line is busy.
Agree with others that a HD firearm would be a useful addition.
"Do you need help?"
"Yes, send a hearse, he's dead."

While I agree that they play up the ability to defend their customers I think an alarm can be beneficial. It provides an alert to someone coming in possible gaining you an advantage allowing more time to arm yourself. I want every advantage to make sure their in the hearse over me if it goes that way. It also monitors the smoke alarms and this is helpful if someone's not home and you have pets. I would definitely have a gun before an alarm if money was an issue.

Security system is on a second, unpublished number. You could pay a hacker to get that number for you, but there'd likely not be an answer to tie up the line.

Many security systems also use what are called dry loops, meaning they are wired direct to the security company and do not take outside calls.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. I have a home alarm system. I also have a loaded 12 ga under the bed and my wife has my .38 Det. Special by her side of the bed. There are also hidden weapons around our house and we have 2 attack trained killer Yorkies for alarms. The safety and wellbeing of you and your family is your own responsibility, not some operator in who-knows-where.

If you already knew the occupants' phone number, couldn't you just walk-up and knock on the door-since they know you? Sure seems easier than trying to outguess how their security service works.

It's bad enough we have one thread going about these commercials, but a second one under the guise of "How to stage a home invasion"?
