Just scanned 'Dixie's BP Kits...saw they offer a Uberti Walker kit.

If you read the review at the bottom right of the Dixie page the frame is not case hardened. Building your own gun can be rewarding. I would not buy the kit to save money. I have run across new completed Walkers for $350-375.

Yes...I ended up reading a bunch of reviews...and there was mention of the Gun not having the "US...1847" Stamp, also...


Available as well...is a 'Dixie' Kit, also in the White...where Cylinder has no Roll Scene...


And you're right...with a little patience, for a few dollars more...one can get a pre-owned NIB or gently used finished one...

A TFL member named Bonesaw bought a Dixie Walker kit
in the white and posted pictures of it before and after
it was nickel plated in the following linked thread.
Note that it had a case colored loading lever & ram
and an engraved cylinder.

Also, Icy a THR member from Solvenia special ordered an
Uberti Walker that was in the white and highly polished.
He said that all of the Uberti replicas can be special
ordered in the white over there.

Uberti is offering "white finish" for all replicas as
special order. I have Colt Walker and is a nice gun.

There was a nice unfired-in-the-box, 1980s 'Uberti' Walker on Gunbroker...no bids yet...I was admiring it, sighed...and realized the Seller was here in Las Vegas...e-mailed him...he re-set the Auction have to a 'Buy-it-Now' feature, I Budda-Bink'd the Button...he drove right over...I paid him...and now Mr. Walker is sitting right here (- nods to chair a few feet away with Mr. W setting right there...)


Woooooo-Hoooooo!


Now...I guess it's time to get on to rounding up Powder, and Caps and what not else..!

You can buy a Uberti Walker from S&S FireArms for $321.00, so the extra time and effort really isn't worth $7.00 savings. But for those who like the hands-on approach, it is a good way to start.

Does anyone know if these kits have Ital. proof stamps and the lawyer approved:barf:
"black powder only" stamps on them, or is that only on the factory finshed models?

That's a good question. They would not be hard to remove from the barrel or frame. The proof marks on the cylinder is a pita, I just leave it.

I built a Kentucky type pistol from a kit once. I used a large flat file to remove the odious stampings:cool: It worked really well as the barrel had flats and I could draw file from one end to the other in one stroke. I then polished and browned and you could not tell they were ever there. But I don't know how you would go about removing them from a round surface without distorting the origional contoures of the gun. I'd like to try it on a Pietta 61 navy, but I'm pretty sure I'd skunk up an otherwise nice pistol:uhoh:

If the latter, I'd wager that when you order, you'll find that it has gone up.

I built a Pietta 1860 colt, .44 cal from a kit I got from DGW. I decided to finish it in bare polished steel. Its been complete or ongoing depending one's perception for about a year and one half now. After every trip to the range,( there have been dozens) I seem to get the old "Dremel" out and polish more and more. My kids say it looks as if it chrome plated already, but somehow I get as much enjoyment working on it as I do using it.
