A Run Of Bad Luck

I have missed two accurate .22 target rifles in the last month.
I didn't have the cash available for the first one and by the time I got it together the rifle was gone.
I had the cash for the second one but moved too slowly and the dealer sold it.

Anyone else having a run of bad luck?

Yes, but it wasn't on a rifle but rather a very nice S&W revolver.

Saw a used but in pristine condition S&W model 53 in 22Jet with a 4 inch barrel sitting at a local gunshop just over a year ago. I thought it was a NEAT little gun, even came with the original box plus the chamber inserts to use 22lr. in it(see it was a convertible chambering gun). They were asking something like 550 for it. NEVER having seen one or knowing what I could be getting into, I returned home to try to fire up the net and ask whether it was a good deal while TheFiringLine was still around.

IT WAS DOWN FOR MAINTENENCE FOR LIKE A WEEK. When the forum finally came back up and I heard people telling, no screaming, "YES GET IT, IT IS WORTH ALMOST DOUBLE THAT!" By the time I went back down there to get it, long gone.

:( Probably never see another one of those, atleast not in that condition, in California again thanks to the stupid safety approval law. I was in the market for a nice collectible handgun at the time and missed that opportunity just barely.

Yep...the K-31 I was drooling over for the last several months was gone last time I went into the shop. Would've gotten it, but was waiting for the wife to cool down after the Savage purchase. :uhoh:

Anybody ever hear of putting money down? Most dealers I have done business with will accept down money, even as little as $20, to hold an item for a while. Credit cards are also handy.

As to waiting a week to consult the great gurus on the web, I can only suggest 99 lashes with a wet printer cable. I say the same to the guy who misses out on something he wants at, say, $250 because some web expert told him it is only worth $225. So he fails to get something he wants to avoid paying what someone else says is too much. And he may never see that item again.

I've put money down and used credit cards before.
This time the card was loaded with a chunk of my daughter's college expenses and I didn't want to add anything else on right then.

I didn't have any cash to put down either. (Refer to "daughter's college expenses" in the above sentence.)

The out of state dealer who had the second rifle, a better deal actually, took off for a gun show the day I called him.

I hear the snickering of Murphy, (or fate!)

CDNN just dropped the price on the Biathlon Basic to $210

A great price for what I've heard is a great rifle. It's next on my list of long guns.
