All,

grouse season opened here in Georgia last week. So on Sat I went out with my two dogs, Hannah my 7 yo and Richmond my 3 yo male. We went to my favorite area, where tha Applachian Trail crosses through Addis Gap, approx 1 mile north of the end of Wildcat Creek Rd in the Lake Burton WMA.

Well, the weather was a little too warm and dry, even after some rains came through the N Ga area on Fri. Did not get any points, one bird flushed wild about 60 yds downhill from me.

The Benelli Nova is a 20g and I would like to say a few things. This gun appears to be a perfect mountain gun. Durable, stong and very lightweight. No rattles. It endured a good butt slide down a dried leafy hill, was banged against numerous trees and was sling carried between coverts. I look forward to actually trying to harvest some birds with it real soon.

As an addition, my 3 yo ES ran off and is currently missing. He is approx 55 - 60 pds, mainly white with black and very light brown makings. His ears are all black and has dark dark eyes. He has a collar with a bell and a second collar with id tags (phone number on it). He is a little shy, but will curl right up to you if you have some food. There is a reward for his safe return.

I know many of you are deer hunters, and the season has just started this week. The Swallow Creek and Lake Burton areas are open this week. Please keep you eyes and ears open for me.

I was parked at a camp site ... he never came back to the camp site as there where about 20 other hunters, hikers and campers in the area, all sat night and sunday. I returned to the area on Sunday to search some more. I thought for sure he would make his way back to there, but no luck.

Sorry to hear about your lost dog :( Some of the dogs we have had are closer than some family members. Hope you have him returned safely so you can go bust some birds.

I don't usually pray for critters, but I'll pray for you getting your dog back.

And, the Nova seems to be a decent piece. Not one of the Big Four, but it's a candidate...

Have aquired a second Nova(in 20ga)---but it seems to be from the rattle-y tribe. As is my first one(12ga).

All,

Thank you for your kind thoughts concerning my lost English Setter.

Good news ... A nice gentleman from Murphy, NC found my dog, Richmond, while he was scouting for deer. He was found approx 1 mile from where I lost him in an area I had searched last weekend.

Richmond is in good condition although very thin, it does not look like he has eaten since the 18th. Got some food and water into him slowly, and a good day of rest and a night of sleep on the down comforter with the wife seems to have improved him greatly. He was actually bouncing around after the older dog this morning until he quickly tired.

Anyway, thanks for all your wishes.

i will bet that ole Richmond hunts a tad closer in from now on.

It makes ya wonder what kind of adventures he had.

I'm glad he made it back to ya!
