Almost any barrel can be cut without destroying the accuracy. But why would you want to cut up a nice gun like a CZ ?

I examined my first CZ 452 last summer. The bluing was beautiful, the fit and finish was impeccable. I have not been that impressed by a firearm in a long time. With that said, I wonder why you would want to go after one of these CZ's with a lathe.

Why not buy a shorter barreled rifle?

its not that easy to just cut a barrel. the best way is to turn it on a lathe. and then it will have to be re-crowned, or you will have NO accuracy what so ever. can i ask why you want to shorten it?

The potential accuracy problem has nothing to do with barrel length, it has everything to do with the crown.

If you have access to a horzontal/vertical bandsaw, it goes much better. I shorten barrels by using a micrometer to measure the barrel thickness in two places. I then use electrical tape to build up the diameter of the two points to the same exact thickness. I determine the two points based on the bandsaw clamp and distance to blade. I want the clamp to hold the barrel exactly perpendicular to the blade.

I typically have a perfectly squared cut that only need slight filing to smooth and a touch of a stainless carriage bolt with polish compound to clean the rifling.

I used this to make a sub MOA Mosin Nagant sporter. I can repeatedly put rounds within 3 inches at 300 yards with this beast.

That said...cutting up a CZ? :-)
