Will Gun Scrubber and/or Powder Blast eat through those yellow dishwashing gloves?

Not sure, but you could try the nitrile gloves sold at Ace hardware, which are supposed to be solvent resistant...

Not until after it turns the ones I've used into a sticky mess all over your gun. Latex surgical gloves are better as they don't melt, only fall apart.

And save your money, use Brake Cleaner instead. Its the same stuff, they just don't charge as much for the can. One nice thing about brake cleaner is its dechlorinated. Can't say that about Gun Scrubber. Absorbed chlorine is a *bad* thing.

Latex gloves are like $5 for 100 pairs... you can get them from Home Depot at the Paint aisle. Another thing to get at Home Depot are cotton rags, also at the Paint aisle. Use this for cut to fit patches.

I usually "appropriate" a box of gloves from the squad. They fit MUCH better than dishwashing gloves. Make sure they are powder free.

Howdy Skunkabilly,

If you're usin' Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber, you can get the exact
same thing with brake cleaner for about a third the cost. CRC is
a good one, and there are others that are even less expensive.

I like to use Gunk Carburetor Cleaner for the first pass to emulsify
the crud, and follow it up with brake cleaner. Brake cleaner alone
sucks the oil out of the stuff and leaves a cack that is about the
consistency of crayon wax. Unfortunately, Advance Auto stopped
carrying the best carb cleaner for the job...Next Dimension...but
Gunk is the next best thing.

Happy scrubbin'!

Harbor Freight sells the blue nitrile gloves that are resistent to Gun Scrubber and all the automotive cleaners for about 6 bucks for 100. Gun Scrubber/Carb cleaner will also eventually eat through the latex gloves.

(Harbor Freight is on Goldenwest at McFadden)

I use latex "examination" gloves from Costco. I use them for painting and working on cars as well good feel, good grip and they protect my hands from stuff like clp and solvents. I know one guy at my gun club that uses some blue ones for shooting, i guess it beats trying to scrub the lead off after a shooting session.

Brake cleaner does cause my latex gloves to loosen and begin to fall apart so i try to use it only towards the end of cleaning so i can just toss them (works great for cleaning your brushes). I don't use brake cleaner all of the time since i need to make sure everything gets a new coat of oil and i'm not one of these 2 hr anal guncleaners anyway.

I may have to try those nitrile gloves as well.
