What year was Winchester model 12 serial number 317169 produced? I like your site- just joined, found you through a Google search. I was told I could do a serial number search on the Winchester site, but couldn't find that option. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum, Who'sJohn!
I will be shooting firearms over the holiday in great abundance. I have a buddy that centers his two big shooting weekends around Memorial Day and Labor Day. I center mine on Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

According to http://www.armscollectors.com/sn/windates.htm the year of manufacture was 1923.
I changed the title of the thread to more accurately reflect your question.

Silly question...but was looking for a website or instructions on how to clean/lube a Winchester 1912 12ga shotgun. Also, how can I tell what choke in in the gun (if any). I have been told that I cannot shoot steel from this gun, so I guess I'll have to shoot lead or bismuth? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The choke is stamped on the chamber section of the barrel, on the left, or "stage right" as the case may be.
