I am trying to chose a 40 and I wanted to see what yall thought would be a better choice. These 2 seem to be similiar in dimensions and reliability, both have an excellent track record. This would be a do it all gun, carry and range gun, so I need it to be comfortable to carry and also comfortable to shoot a lot at the range. I am mostly concerned with he comfort of carrying these two and their respective size, especially width and weight as I plan on carrying IWB.

Advantages for the Sig
1. Sig has the decocker, which I absolutely love!
2. Sig has nice weight/feel when shooting.

Advantages for Glock
1. It's Lighter
2. It has More rounds (13)

For carry I would go with the P239 SAS. The corners are de-horned making it less suseptable to snagging on clothing, no spur on the hammer to catch on anything and it is Double Action Only. No de-cocking involved and a little safer for CCW.

I carry the P239/357Sig but prefer the decocker. Good luck with your decision.

Voted SIG 239. Own neither but shot both. My vote for the SIG is only if equipped with a DAK trigger. The trigger makes all the difference to me, and in their standard configurations the glock wins b/c of the trigger, IMHO. The SIG wins based on ergonomics.

Another vote for the Glock 23. Love mine, put it in a Mtac or Crossbreed holster.

Both are superb weapons. Pick the one that's most comfortable for you to carry/shoot.

I voted for the Sig based soley on the ergonomics. Ive shot them, they are great, but I just dont care for a Glock's grip. IMO, its a wash if you like the ergonomics.

I posted this here and other forums and I thought I would give an update. Sig is winning 98 votes to 92 votes. Still very tough decision. I got to hold both today and I also got to hold a G27, so I'd thought I should throw that into the mix as well.

The glocks grip angle doesnt bother me but what does is the fact that I could not reach the Mag Release w/o some maneuvering of the gun in my grip, becuase the grip is soo wide. I like to be able to shoot and release w/o quickly w/o a lot of effort and with the glock that wasn't possible. The release was not in my reach unless I turned the gun a bit. Not a big deal but something I didnt like and might bother me down the road.

The Sig definatley felt heavier but at the same time it felt great, if that makes sense. One thing about the Sig I did not like was the Slide Release. I could not work it with my thumb at all. I remembered reading the same thing either here or somewhere else and the fix was to press in a certain spot. Well I pressed everywhere and simply could not work it. The slide release also seemed much smaller that the other Sigs, 226, 229. Does anyone have anything to share about this? Of course, the clerk said it would loosen, but I don't trust anything from someone whose motivation is to sell me something.

Still torn and have no way of shooting them.

I own both and feel the P239 is the better gun. Then again we all have our own opinions. Both will serve you well!

Really like the P239 for carry.

Factor in a) price b) cost of buying 2-3 extra mags (Glock at $30 a piece, Sig at $60 a piece).... if there is a significant difference, go with the one that will let you buy a case of practice ammo?

You'll get used to the mag release on each, I had the same problem with both.

I voted Glock. Do consider the G27 though... it's a honey. I own the 23 and the 27, but I carry the 27 more these days (although I consider my G23 to be the finest defensive handgun I own).

For me it is hard to overlook the greater firepower of the Glock. We all have our own preferences and values. And for me, number of rounds in the mag is pretty important. 14 rounds of a good 40 caliber is outstanding.

I voted for the Glock. Do consider the G27 though with the Pearce PG2733 extensions(they make the grip have the same as the G23). I own the 23 and the 27, but I carry the 27 more these days.

I also like the extra capacity and the price of the glocks.

Voted for the 239. Glocks are fine handguns (my 26 was a wonderful little gun too) but there's something special about a SIG.

I own a Glock 27 that has been pretty reliable, but I am getting a 23 because it just fits in my hand a little bit better and I wanted the rail option. Get familiar with it before you buy it.

Do you have a range with rentals around that you could try? Most ranges would at least have the Glock.

I do not dislike Sig, in fact I am adding a p238 to my collection for light summer carry as soon as the recall is handled and the dealer gets them in stock.

I've owned both, and the Sigs carry better for me. The grip angle allows the Sig to hide better without printing. The two guns are very good choices, and nearly identical in size.

Turn offs on the Sig are:

1. Slide catch located right where I hold the gun, so I continually rode it to where I would get no last shot hold open. No big deal, just a quirk
2. Low capacity
3. Don't care for the first pull DA

Don't miss the 239, and will get another Glock someday, but not for IWB:D

I carry the 239 as a duty weapon and usually concealed in a skyops holster. I went through the academy with it. Don't own a glock (my hands are to small. Wife has one and loves it.
The sig has never had a malfunction. The pistol will shoot better than I am capable of shooting. I love its narrow size when concealed. Only problem is for all us healthy boys if you don't wear and undershirt the hammer gets into that midrif bulge. We are looking at the Glocfk21 SF's now, Haven't shot it yet but I seem to get more of my finger on the trigger.
Don't know which I would reccomend. My advise is to shoot it and see which one fits better. Only other advise I can give is that everyone has a Glock. A Sig is like EF Hutton when you say Sig everyone listens!
