Many years ago my dad had an 870 . It was a very plain gun . The fore arm had no checkering , just lines on it . I have been looking for one like this , but all I can find are the ones with checkering . Any idea what model I should be looking for .

First, are you 100% sure it was a Remington 870? If so, there are a few varieties I know of. Take a look at the picture here and tell us which one you're looking for:

Does it look like this? This is a police, 18 inch barrel, plain bead sight.

How many years ago is many years ago? Back in the 1950s that is what the baseline Wingmasters with polished and blued finish looked like.

I know my little gun is ugly but I did not realize it would run people off.:scrutiny:

Yeah, that is an ugly gun. That's why I have an 870P like that. ;) It's like an ugly, loyal dog that I'll never give up.
