If this (http://www.iacshotguns.com/) is their website, they don't have any mention of a WWII replica 1911 yet. Looks like they sell replica shotguns, so maybe it isn't a stretch to think that they could start importing other replicas.
Please let us know more about the two you ordered when they arrive. I'd imagine there'd be considerable interest.

Cyclops,
Are you at KC Trading in Ellensburg? I stopped to shoot there recently and pick up a few things. A pleasant time.

I will. I am not a regular, just found you all by accident a while back while killing time in Ellensburg (not my normal area/route/etc.). Shot in your range and bought some supplies. I thought it was a pretty well equipped/stocked shop compared to the average I see in western WA.
Well, if that's it, if it shoots well it should fill a niche. That gs tang looks like it my be a bit too long, or are those frame tangs too short and it makes it look that way?

Too bad it is now the 21st Century!:D
From what I know of Intrastate Arms those handguns will be made in the Phillipines and are along the same quality as the Auto Ordnance/Kahr Arms and Rock Island Arsenal offerings.
In other works, not bad guns for the money but not great by a long shot.
Internal parts tend to be soft, the receivers and slides are investment cast but decent.
The barrels are usually pretty good.

Is KC trading on the main drag just down the hill from this fancy Italian/pasta place that used to be a gas station?
I'll have to swing in next time I get near Ellensburg.

Well guys n gals, they are in- I had a hard time getting clear photos but the shape is there- overall, the fit and finish is better than expected. it is a standard millspec 1911-A1 in every way, patterning itself off the colt variant with a widespur hammer-
As for the scroll work-
left side of slide says "REGENT" (one inch of space) then, "1911-A1"
left side of frame on dust shield (IAC BILLERICA, MA)
right side of slide has nothing
right side of frame "MADE IN TURKEY" over "TISAS T0620" dust shield has serial number
retail is $559
I will post pics as soon as photobucket resets to take password (too many failed attempts)

That is a very nice looking GI spec pistol and I'd like to check one out. The only problem I see is the price. RIA GI-spec 1911's sell for less than $425 and I just bought a NIB Springfield Armory GI model for $551 out the door. Those are likely going to be their biggest competition and considering the quality of both the RIA and SA pistols, the new Turkish pistol may be a tough sell unless nothing else is available. Just my opinion, of course.

There is alot of compitition in the $500-$600 1911 range.
I think it would be a better price point in the $450-$500 range, but i dont get to make these decisions now do i? lol
So you is the slide and frame fit? any rattling when shaking? What about tooling marks burr's internally? How do you like it?

Why would you buy this gun over RIA?
cyclopsshooter
July 8, 2009, 12:50 AM
well... "I" wouldn't buy an RIA or even this one... I'm a 70series or earlier Colt snob ;)
If I was new to the 1911 market I would consider it an entry level to find out if I liked the platform-
The slide and frame are cast- I do not know the small part materials but could not find the telltale MIM signs so perhaps they are cast as well, a plus in my book... I did field strip it and didn't notice any blatant or disgusting milling marks. the slide/frame fit is good with only a hint of play- tighter than you would expect from a milspec- probably loosen up after a few hundred rounds-
i did notice that part thickness seemed thinner than my old colts
feed ramp cuts are done properly and i suspect would take a good polish job!
for the purists the thumb safety has a 70 series knub and there is no lanyard ring.
the front strap cut is more boxed than colts giving the grip a slightly larger feel
i also suspect that prices will rival RIA models- we are a small shop that cant buy in bulk like the online sellers- our last RIA 38 super went for 560 a few months ago so who knows-

The local shop has theses on sale for 479.99 im gonna have to try and pick it up before they are out. It is usually 559.99 and i really want to try out 1911 so figure it will be a good start.

I was reading about these one one of the other forums. They were calling them "Turkish Norincos". Before they do that, they should check to see if the slide. brl, and frame are forged; and the internals are barstock.
If not, they are no better that any Armscor gun. Not that there is anything wrong with Armscor, its just that Norks are known for their forged and barstock parts.
