A guy my girlfriend works with is selling a Hi Point C9 with 3 mags, holster, 2 boxes of ammo for $250. He claims it's only been shot 'a few times'

Is it worth it?

Offer him 150 and not a penny more. Look at Bud's gunshop online I think they have new Hi-Points for less than 200 dollars.

Or to spin off the old Yugo joke... "How do you double the value of a HiPoint?"

Throw in a box of ammo!

Seriously, gotta ask... why is he selling it after shooting it only a few times??

I'm not sure why he is selling it

I know they are cheap, I just wasn't sure if the mags/holster/ammo would make it worth the price....I may low ball him for it, but I've got a new Glock 17 on the way sooooooooo

If he only shot it a little and wants to sell it you many be buying his problems. As for the ammo, for the most part 9mm ammo is going for ~$20 a box. The extra mags might be $15 each too. BUT, like said above, what is he selling it after only shooting it a little? If he doesn't like it what makes you think you will?

I would suggest asking him if you can go with him to the range and shoot the gun. After all, don't you test drive a used car? Depending on the holster and if the gun works flawlessly it might be worth $250 but only if it's a good leather holster. ($40 for the ammo, $50 for the holster and ~$15 for the extra mag) Even at that $250 might be too much, try for $200 for everything but only if he lets you fire the gun...

No, no reason to get the High Point if you have a Glock on the way.

The High Point pistols are, to be honest, junk. If you can't afford anything better, that's one thing. But, if you have a Glock on the way, save the money and buy extra ammo for the Glock instead.

Or, spend the money on a training class. That will be a much better investment then a High Point pistol that you really don't need.

That's kinda what I was thinking....when I went on and looked that the gun retails for $150-200 I knew my Glock probably blew it out of the water. I'll save my money, as you mentioned, and spend it on ammo or other accessories for my Glock instead of wasting it on this HiPoint

I saw a new one in a gunshop last week for $199.

I'm a Hi-Point fan. I've got a 9mm that pretty much runs like a watch, or did back before I got bored with it and put it up. They're not a bad gun.

Having said that, I might, MIGHT mind you, go as high as $100.00 for the one you described. The extra magazines and holster and ammo don't add value to you, they just sweeten the deal. How much are they worth without the gun? Nothing. He might as just toss them in to get you to buy it.

$100.00. $125.00 tops.

If he's having trouble with it after "only a few rounds", it may need more break-in. Mine didn't but it's possible. I'd shoot it some more and if I had trouble with it, I'd send it Hi-Point and they'll fix it for free. Doesn't matter if you're the original owner or not.

It is a High Point. Get over it.

I rank them right with Jennings. Waste of money unless it's about $75-$100. He can keep the ammo.

Honestly bud I would spend the money on a nice little backup gun for the glock. Several dependable pocket pistols for 150-200 $ range. That being said I might take the Hi-Point over the glock. Just never been a fan. But I would agree that is too much money. GL.

And yet I rarely see posts on them breaking!

It seems to be an ugly, goofy gun that still works fairly well.

if you want a hi piont then go for it but just to let you know all used guns have only been shot once or twice

Used is used. It's not a relative condition. Calling a hi-point "a little bit used" is like calling a girl "A little bit pregnant."

A couple of months ago I would have given more credit for the ammo, but the crisis is easing now.
