Got a friend who purchase a Springfield Armory GI and had some work done to it. He send it to Ford for it to be brushed chromed. He purchased a drop in match barrel and bushing and had a smith put Heine sights on it along with a solid target trigger. He has all the receipts for the work he has had done. He says about 1500 to 2000 lead and berry's bullets have been down the pipe. He is asking $699 for the 1911, what do you guys think about the price?

My advice is "if you like it get it".

As weird as it seems, When I'm buying...I hold it and it tells me something.

Kind of a good/bad vibe thing......

Price wise, that's not bad.

2k of rounds is just breaking it in...

Cheers

That is a good price if, IF, IF

1. You LIKE brushed chrome finish and Heinie sights.

2. You get a chance to testfire it and see that the barrel installation was done right for reliability.

That price would not scare me if the slide was tight and my grip in shooting position felt magical. My favorite pistols have replacement barrels with tighter bushings. Had to start with the "feel" first. It'd be way good to go shoot it first to see how it likes you.

That's called an impulse, and I suffer from the same affliction.
