Bought a mossberg 590a1 and trying to get a sling on it. I bought the magazine cap from blackhawk and the box says it fits the 590, but the cap will not screw on. at all. tried oiling it. the threads look the same as original. I also notice my stock cap has a hole in the front of it. Is there a post that will screw into my stock cap?

Wow, I just screamed. I opened my box, lo and behold, there's the piece. Looks like I wasted $40 for nothing.

Thanks man, I should've asked here first.

Blackhawk is a ripoff imo. Way overpriced, way overhyped.

Why are you using a sling? If your gun is for HD-lose the sling, you will be happier.

+1

I bought their fancy schmanshy knee pads for airsofting because I've always hated hard plastic knee pads. The stitching is pulling out in vital areas after I used them three or four times.

Pffft... totally disagree. And... where did he say that he was using it for HD? Even if he is using it for HD he can detach the sling and then reattach at his convenience if he chooses to do so.

Why is it that it seems that more and more people on here are pushing their advice about what is best for someone else when they aren't even asked?

Perhaps a better question is why some people get hostile towards other people so quickly. Debate ideas, refute assertions you believe wrong. I wouldn't leave my main HD long-gun with a strap, but that's a handling thing for me. Having one so-prepped to throw over the shoulder as a backup may be another thing. While we're at it, I own some Blackhawk products that I'm pleased with and that I thought were a bargain. But I'm probably a stoopiehead. :D

Our department added slings to all our SG's this year. They don't want an officer leaving his shotgun behind, even if it has part removed to "disable" it.

Therefore, my HD SG will be getting one too.

Slings are invaluable if you practice with it. If you think that in an HD situation, you won't be carrying the SG long enough to matter, consider that you may need both hands for something at one point or another without setting your firearm down.

Anyways, any good sling worth a lick would easily be removed or even have a quick release.
