I was just wondering if anyone who frequents this board has ever seen a Barrett M90A1. There are supposed to be five of them in civilian hands. The original reason for the A1 was to fill a Navy contract and a five rifle over-run was released on the civilian market. Have any of you ever come across one in a collection or gun shop?

Yep, that's where I got my user name.

Wasn't the M90 the predecessor to the M95? Or is the M90 the bullpup version that rides on top of your shoulder?

Yes, the M90 was the predecessor to the M95, but there were some things about the M90 that the Navy wanted changed, thus was born the M90A1.

I've shot a bolt-action magazine-fed Barrett bullpup, but I can't remember for the life of me if it was an M90 or M95.

What were the changes on the A1 variant?

The M95 was derived from the M90A1. Here is a link to pictures and a description of the differences in the M90 and M95.

Supposedly, one of the biggest complaints the Navy had with the M90, was the closeness of the grip to the mag well. It seems like the shooter's hand got a pretty good smack from the mag well under recoil.
