Hornady Headspace Gage?
something vague

Does anyone use this specific headspace gage to figure out their shoulder setback amount? I am in deperate need for a headspace gauge as I really need to start F/L sizing my .223 rounds for my bolt gun the proper way. Will this gauge acurately tell me how much shoulder setback I am acheiving?

Yes the Hornady tool does a good job for adjusting your dies to get proper headspace. The nicest thing is that the set will do almost all rifle calibers. I do like the RCBS Precision Mic also but it is caliber specific. I have ones for .223, 30-06, and use both the Hornady and RCBS. Here's a good article on the Hornady headspace gauge set:

Keeping the amount of lube equal on cases being sized will help consistency. A highly lubed case and a nearly dry case can lead to small difference in the shoulder set back. You'll have some differences with brass being slightly harder or softer in the shoulder neck area that will show slight differences in your measurements. But you can control the shoulder set back and get them very close.

Use it all the time. Great tool that no handloader should be without.
Excellent article rg1!
