Does anyone know if there are any sources I can use to find out a specific Taurus 85's GRC data without having to rely on their website or service reps?

I'm trying to determine what production year Taurus began assembling their Model 85 series with a 6 groove barrel instead of a 5 groove barrel.

Taurus recently updated their entire website around mid-June. Then on July 3rd, and after many years listing the groove spec as 5, Taurus abruptly changed the spec for all their 85 series revolvers from 5 to 6 grooves.

The model in question is 85B2 that was produced in January 2004. In 2004 Taurus produced a total of 85 units of the 85B2 with serial numbers ranging from XA53320 through XA53405.

A few months ago I accessed the Taurus website and input these revolver serial numbers into "Find My Model" and the specs came back as 5 grooves. I also telephoned Taurus Customer Service and the tech confirmed that all Model 85 revolvers were produced with a 5 groove barrel.

Now, when I input any of those serial numbers into "Find My Model", it indicates that the barrels have 6 grooves.

Is there a database I can use to confirm the production year that the 85B2 barrel groove spec was changed from 5 to 6?

Thanks!
