Just wanted to know what gun lubricant everybody uses.

I personally use Rem-Oil as it gets into every little area.

I just order UltLube from BarryhHill Custom LLC based on a thread I read here saying it was really great stuff. Have not yet received it. If it is as good as everyone said, I'll be going to that.

To be fair/complete, I don't think Mobil 1 works for everything, but I do think it works, and I'll use it for life. I use a lot of things though. Lithium grease, automotive high temperature wheel bearing grease, Hoppe's, and probably a handful more than I can remember right now.

Point being, there are a lot of good lubes out there that are not all designed for firearms.

I voted "other".

There's a little tub of RIG +P Stainless Steel lube that I've had since the early 90's.

It's been used on all my auto loaders and revolvers, and I still have half the tub left.

I'll try something else when either, I run out of it, or I start to have malfunctions with my guns.

In 15 or 16 years using this little tub, I haven't had one lube related malfunction.

I use Tri-flow to lube my firearms. Before that I used CLP, mobile 1 and chain saw oil. The only reason I switched was because I could not find CLP and the store I was at had tri-flow and no mobile one.

No preference really, I just use what is available.

same......so i voted other.

i use it for everything.

mobil1 motor oil on things that need oil.
mobil1 synthetic grease on everything that need grease
(including my 1944 springfield m1 garand, so needless to say, i really trust the stuff.

i use hoppes#9 also, but only for cleaning. not as a lubricant.

This should have been a multi-option poll.
I use CLP, FP-10, Rem Oil, Tetra Gun Grease on semi-auto rails, and WD-40.

Just kidding on the WD-40

I use Rem-oil, Break free and Mobil Synthetic Red Hi-temp grease. It depends on the application. Gun rails and inside the side plates on Revolvers I use the grease, Rem-oil on the outside for rust protection and on my pocket and hunting knives. Break free for the rest.

WD 40 for me. I like the fact it displaces water also if you bring the gun in from -40 temps into the house and it sweats to much. Plus is convenient and cheaper then the gun brands.

I don't think WD-40 causes rust. It actually contains a lubricant.

While I think WD-40 is not suitable for a sole lubricant it is good for squeaks and removing glue.

It is good lube for magazines.

ClenzOil if it spins and for surface protection (including chamber/bore) and Berryhill Custom Ultimate Gun Lube if it slides, glides, etc.

KY...LOL...just kidding. I like Birtchwood Caesy Synthetic (for regular oiling) and Aero-Kroil by Kano Laboratories (cleaning and lubricating, it's a powerful penetrent with a mild detergent additive)

Grease: Outboard motor grease, the water-proof type.

BMF500 - How is the Aero-Kroil for getting lead out of a barrel?
It works surprisingly well for lead. I have a Heritage Roughrider .22LR/MAG that for years has seen nothing but the cheapest .22 rounds I can find (I call 'em dirty cowboys). And after several hundred rounds on a day of playing, the barrel cleans right up with the Aero-Kriol. I'm sure the elbow grease and wire brush are a factor too. From time to time I’ll clean it up with Hoppes solvent just for good measure. I have found that it is completely useless for copper build up. Kind of smells like Pine-sol.

I've used RemOil w/good results so I voted it.
I also use Tetra grease and just started useing a product called X-19 that is a spray-on that 'clings' to a surface sort of like light grease. good stuff on rails and trigger mechanisms.

Here in the soggy, coastal Northwest, I use saltwater resistant, reel grease mixed with some gun oil on the exterior of my firearms. WD-40 has caused more rust problems for me than any other product. It never goes near any gun that I plan to take out of the safe.

Gunzilla CLP, All natural

I've used Gunzilla and have had very good results with it and like it very much.

With that said, I've had a problem with the "All Natrual" quotes mfg. make. Tobacco is all natural, Coca is all natural, Alchol is all natrual ect., ect. I live in No. Ind amish country and hear all the time about All Natural remedies and in the end not helping at all other than in the mind of the user. Heck lead is all natural and look where thats getting us. So is arsenic, and that doesn't do anyone any good.

Don't take me wrong, I just get tired of something being called all natural as automatially AOK.

For fine mechanical parts, I'll use WD-40 as a cleaner, but I don't like to rely on it for a lubricant, or for a corosion preventer. Sure it will displace water, but in my experience, it dries up, and does not have the 'staying power' to prevent corosion long term. I've been happy with Break-Free so far, but i've been recomended to try that bore butter (sp?) where a grease would be appropriate. I'm looking forward to more ideas on this thread.

I am using free samples of MCM and have a couple of free samples of Friction Defense in reserve. I also have a free bottle of FP-10, a free bottle of Breakfree, some free Mobil 1 drained out of the can after an oil change in a friend's truck, some free Lucas oil stabilizer drained out of the can after an oil change in my truck, and some very nice free refrigeration oil left open too long to use in an air conditioner. Even still some free samples of RIG and Gunslick the store here used to throw in with a new gun purchase.

Are you getting the picture?

The last gun lube I bought was during the first Militec-1 frenzy several years ago; and before that some army surplus oil, lubricating and preservative, bought at a gun show. I think I will just blend what I have left of those two, the Militec-1 is clearly labeled as an oil additive.

"WD-40 has CAUSED more rust problems for me than any other product".-oldtrader3 WOW! I'm speechless. I use a lightweight oil like Remoil, etc. I have no use for grease at all. I use WD-40 very routinely after cleaning and have for over 40 years.

I use Hoppe's #9 as a bore solvent, Gunscrubber polymer safe for general crud blasting, and I mostly use CLP for lube, but I've been looking hard at using Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic, based on members' recommendations in here. All of my cars use it anyway, and I keep a utility oiler of the stuff around for the kids' bikes.

I learned as a teenager that WD-40 builds up and gums on skateboard bearings. You can get away with using it a little bit if you live in a VERY dry climate, but I would say, only in an emergency, followed by immediate thorough cleaning at the first opportunity.

I use Birchwood Casey Rust preventer when I put my guns in my gun cabinet. My cabinet, by necessity, is in my laundry room. I haven't had any problems with rust on any of my weapons.
