Went to the gun shop today to pick up some ammo and saw what will be my next pistol.

Hammerili - SIG Trailside.Target model, 6" barrel Two-tone, $499.

It felt like it was made for my hand. If I had more money I would have bought it today. Does anyone out there have this gun? What did you think? I thought it felt way better than the Mark II gov't my buddy has.

One of the best .22 ottermatics out there.

I have a 4.5" Target model, and its been an excellent performer for me.

I have one. Best thing it has going over a Ruger MkII is that the Trailside is a snap to take down. IMO the Trailside is the best 22 target pistol after the S&W 41 for casual target shooting and plinking.

I was pretty excited about the Trailside for a long time; then I looked at once in a shop; then I talked with a guy who bought one.

The easily broken plastic magazines were the show-stopper for me.

I had only seen one Trailside before CA started all its testing non-sense. It looked like a nice little 22. Maybe one day SIG will decide to get their 22 approved for sale in CA  but for now, I'm more than satisfied w/ my Ruger.

I have the 6" model and a Ruger 22/45. The Trailside takedown is as simple as a SIG or a Glock. The only downside is that if you plan on installing a red dot sight - it has to be removed for disassembly. A boresnake or Otis cleaning system would suffice for interim cleanings.

I like mine, but still shoot the Ruger also. The Trailside is light. Larry's guns sells accesories for it, including weights.

The earlier magazines had problems. They have been fixed and I have had no problems with mine. They are expensive (especially for plastic). The cheapest I've found was ~ $25 - $28.

I did notice that the magazines were expensive and would be a negative for the gun. I would like to have at least 5 magazines for a .22 that I would use for plinking. Doesn't sound very feasible at $30 a pop. Maybe I am wrong ?

I picked up a demo 6" fixed sight model at my local shop for under 4 bills. (demo=meaning lots of people played around with it and pulled the trigger, but nobody actually shot it=smooth trigger for me!)

Went to larrysguns.com and bought adjustable grips, a barrel weight, rear target sight, scope mount, and extra magazines.

So far, it's scary accurate with ammo it likes (standard velocity usually), jams on ammo it dosen't (high velocity, CCI mini-mags etc...). Works well with target sights or red dot scope (mines a 1" ultra dot) offhand or bench rested.

It locks back pretty hard on the last shot and requires a little extra "umph" to release the slide. Also has a tendancy to strip off first round from the magazine (ammo dependent), and eject it from the firearm. Havn't had any problems with the magazines yet.

Over all it's finicky, but accurate. Easy to clean and easy to modify to my shooting needs. OK by me for a range-only gun.

Also go check over at Sigforum.com and do a search.

Hmm, that surprises me a bit, as I would have thought anything "contemporary", and made by Hamerili, would not be. Oh well, guess I'll just stick with my trusty "slabside". :)

Tnx--RUT
