Gee, were you wearing nomex? Stand off to the side about 15 feet and watch it being shot in the dark. It's really impressive. ;)

Gives a whole new meaning to powder burns:D

I have a Walker too, it is pure fun to shoot.

I am not sure, but I think powder load was around 46 grains.

A great deal of the powder is burning after leaving the muzzle.. A little goes a long ways in a muzzle loader the rest is just wasted.
Ya spose that was the reason for long barrels???

46 grains? Is that even possible? It would seem that there would not be enough room for the bullet to seat.

As I said, I am not sure about the powder load... We used the simple .44 ball bullet and not those you see on the pic below.

I use 50 grains of FFFg.

Between the powder, a wad and the bullet it all just fits in the cylinder.

I called Colt when I got mine, they said it was not possible to overcharge the pistol as long as you used the correct powder. It is supposed to be able to take up to 55 grains but I think you would have to leave the wad out and make sure you crisco'd the openings of the cylinder.

The maximum charge on original Colt Walkers was 60 grains under a round ball, somewhat less if using a conical. Modern repros may have smaller chambers.
