anyone here have any .22 savage brass for sale or know where it's available?

a friend of mine has a M99 Savage and needs some .22 savage brass.

any help would be appreciated.

Norma or RWS still makes it, I think. It was very popular in Europe for some years.

www.grafs.com has Norma brass listed as Savage 5.6 x 52R for 22.19 per 20. Check around for the metric designation there, I seemed to find quite a few options for brass that way.

RCBS makes a .22 Savage Hi Power forming dies that you can use to turn 30-30 shells into .22 Savage Hi Power. I have a set, and they work really well. The bullets used in .22 Hi Power rounds are .227 in diameter, not the standard .223 like so many other .22 caliber rounds out there. So please be advised. I get my bullets from Lock, Stock, and Barrel. They are Hornady #2280, 70 grain Spire Point.

Actually it's a three die set. You have to reduce the neck size gradually to minimize work hardening of the brass. I load these shells for a guy in Rochester, New York, and his gun is pretty darn accurate with them.
Form Die #1 begins the sizing, form die #2 continues the sizing, Form die #3 is a trim die that the extra material sticks out the top of to be filed off.
At this point, you proceed with a standard two die full length sizing set which decaps and finsh forms then seats and crimps. A lot of steps, alot of dies, and alot of money. Maybe it's not so crazy to just buy cartridges for this caliber after all......
