I've always pondered this and was wondering if anyone had any info on the matter. I have a .270 BAR MK II rifle and just randomly found the following 6 rd drop-down magazine at http://www.browningint.com/fichprod/bar.html.

If this is possible than I was thinking why not a 10rd or more mag? I know that the BAR is a dedicated sporting rifle but.........Hypothetically speaking could it be done? That is convert or construct a longer magazine for the BAR?

Appreciate any help or info yall can give me!

I had a BAR MKII .30-06 and after looking at the magazine I thought it could be done if you were to fabricate one by taking an original BAR mag and welding an m14 magazine to it. It would be a huge job, and cutting up two perfectly good and expensive magazines to get one that might or might not work made me shy away from ever doing it. But if you have the time, the money, and the mechanical abilitys I belive it is possible.

Hypothetically speaking? Sure it could be done. If you had enough time and money and engineering skills.

Since the .30-06 round is a half-inch longer than the 7.62x51 NATO used in the M14, how would an M14 mag work?

I meant to type "something like" an m14 magazine. If I remember , I don't think I ever found a suitable donor magazine. It was just a crazy idea I had a very long time ago, try not to take it too seriously, I didn't.

As a friend who is in construction says "anything is possible with enough money"- While it is possible, I'd buy 2 extra factory mags and practice mag exchanges until it was automatic.
