Question about Winchester Trapper?

I have a Trapper in .357 mag that I've owned for several years but have only shot twice, basically I'm a handgun shooter. My question is, I seem to have a lot of FTF's when I use .357 ammo in it but not when I use .38 Specials. I took it to the range last weekend and it jammed up on the .357's at least 25% of the time. I was shooting 158 grain jacketed softpoint ammo and just couldn't get it to feed on a reliable basis. For those of you with experience, could this be due to the gun not being broken in, if that is an issue, or should I use a different round? It was really annoying to say the least. Thanks, Mike

I'd try some ammo with a diffrent shape and perhaps shorter bullet.
Maybe 125 grain stuff.
But it is odd that it does that. Usually they get balky with the .38 Specials.
My Marlin 1894CS feeds the .357's fine but acts up some with the shorter .38's.

Have you been shooting alot of .38s out of it? It could be that the chamber needs a good scrubbing out. This would be even worse if you have been using solid lead bullets.
Try that and see if it helps.
