Does anyone have experience with a Bergara barrel?

I have done searches and the best I could come up with is "it is more accurate than any of my other barrels" type comments. That is nice to know, but I don't have a point of reference to work with here as I don't know how your other barrels shoot.

These barrels have been on the market for several years, has anyone done a range test or review with pictures and group measurements for a centerfire barrel produced by Bergara? I would really love it if the review was about a .308 win barrel, but any will due.

Thanks
Scythe

Krochus,
I didn't run across that pic in a thread (on a different forum) until after I posted :) Have you gotten down below .82"? I believe that was your second group out of that barrel right? Have you put many rounds through the barrel besides those two groups? How is the finish holding up? I do thank you for your pics and load data through, I will be probably starting close to that for the .308 (well, aiming for that equivilent). I enjoy your threads because they show exactly what you are talking about. I am thinking of getting a barrel for my optima in 7.62 x 39 just because your rifle showed that it wasn't just a plinking round. Oh, and did you find if it liked heavier loads than the 150 gr stuff? I think someone mentioned that it might like the 168 gr rounds better on the other forum I saw your review on.

OK people, now I have one, which is only an example but not enough to form a generalization from. Anyone else got some eye candy for me.

to be honest while the begara bbl was a great performer my overall experience amongst my other barrels with encore accuracy or lack thereof soured me on the entire platform shortly after buying the begara I sold off EVERYTHING I had with a TC logo on it and did what I should have done in the first place and used the proceeds to build the Stevens 200 I have now.

In my opinion the break action rifle just isn't an accurate platform, not that I won't own another break action single shot mind, but I for darn sure won't have much more than $250 tied up in one. I've said this before it's one thing when your $220 handi or Spartan shoots 3MOA it's quite another when your $700 pro hunter does no better

with my slow 1-15" twist my formerly 7.62x39 (now 30ppc largo) would only shoot 150grainers moderately well with rather stout short brass life loads

I thought you were shooting well under moa with that setup. I was looking at the 1 in 10", which should be able to stabalize the 150 gr round sufficiently well. I would love to own a .75 moa or better gun :)

JDGray,
What types of groups is he seeing and what is his load data? I have the .50 ML.

Krochus,
I can't seem to find that thread where you showed you were getting 1/3 moa out of the gun before you converted it to a largo.... what was your recipe? I'm just interested as it would make a starting point. Oh, and at the dicks sporting goods here, you can get a CVA optima elite combo ( .50 cal ML and a centerfire barrel of your choice) for about 350. It's a bit more than your 250 dollar limit, but for "two" guns I don't think that its too bad.

I talk to my StepDad on his 45 cal barrel. He shoots 85gr Pyrodex Select, under a Hornady 155gr 40 S&W bullet w/ sabot. He's grouping less then an inch with a cheap Burris Dot sight. Said cleaning the barrel is like nothing He's ever seen, very slick, and took only 2 patches.

Wow, JD, I wasn't actually expecting you to get that info. Thanks man... I'll be glad to see 1.5 inches from it this year, which will be more than sufficient for deer. Once I get to a range and really start working up loads I'll post a report.

Thanks you guys
