Fellas,

What do you recommend? Will be shooting in LWRC m6A3 with 14.7" barrel.

Thanks!

Mark

I would strongly suggest you check out Hodgdons load site at www.hodgdon.com for complete loading data. Hodgdon lists over a 1/2 dozen powders suitable for a 77 gr bullet showing both min and max loads plus pressure. My personal favorite is Varget powder, but I'm only shooting 69 gr bullets in my Colt H-Bar. :)

I've had rather good results with 77 SMKs over RE15 up near mx loads.

I shoot 75 Hornady match, because they are cheaper and I can't tell any difference on target.

That being said, most of the target shooters I know use Varget, RL15 with their 77's.

I use N140 with my 75's, I know guys who use N550.

Basically any powder in the IMR 4895 burn rate will work just great with your bullets. And that includes IMR 4895/H4895/AA2495.

I developed target loads with the ball powder AA2520. Shot well but it is like blowing charcoal into your gas system.

I shoot SMK 77gr HPBT bullets out of a 24" DPMS fluted heavy barrel. I use 24.5gr of IMR 4895 (CCI 400 primers) with an average velocity of 2730 fps. This load performs very well (sub MOA) at 200 and 300 yards. I never did try it at 600 yards since I bought 80gr A-MAX bullets for that.

Like SlamFire1, I also use Hornady 75gr match bullets but only in my 16" POF.

I use IMR4895 for most of my reloads. Somehow I was under the impression it didn't make a good target round with the heavier bullets. I'll have to work up a few rounds and see how it does.

Which 77gr are you getting that will fit in the AR magazine? I want something heavier than 70gr and use it for hunting as well. Not thrilled about single loading it ;)
