Don't bother. I have never trimmed an auto pistol case in my life, never will. It's not needed.

The ideal CASE length is 19mm (0.748 inches), that's why they call it "9x19".

The trim length is somewhat shorter. However, if you measure new brass, you'll see the factories using anything and everything between 0.743 up to 0.752 or so.

Having said all that, in MOST cases it is not necessary to trim Luger brass.

Really? I'm pretty new to reloading. I've only reloaded revolver cartridges so far. This will be my first auto loads.

I only know of one person here who trims their auto cases. Many of us trim revolver cases to get a more uniform crimp, but some don't trim them either.

I didn't trim my 9's and haven't had too. They haven't stretched.

My experience with auto cases is that they shorten with use. If I was going to trim auto cases (and I haven't), then I'd trim them to the max case length or just barely under.

Well, if all your sized cases are under 0.750" then it doesn't matter, does it?
Typical case length for me is in the .740's with the occasional .750+.

So what is the correct trim length for 9mm? I don't really know, as I haven't trimmed one in 41 years. Wanna buy a brand new 1968 vintage 9mm Luger trim gauge, never used? [Just kidding, I never sell anything.]

Most of the ones I measured was in .740's. I was thinking someone trimmed them to much. My brass is range pick up so I wanted to know the range it should be in. There were 4 cases in the .730's that I put aside. You guys say there good to go, then they are good to go. Thanks

Why would you trim semi-auto pistol brass? I don't know anyone that ever trims pistol brass from semi-autos. WAYYYY too much work for very little if any gain at all.

I would consider trimming large caliber revolver brass but only in 454casull or 460. I won't trim 45colt or lower. Just seems unnecessary.

Can someone tell me the max and minimum length of the 9mm luger case. RCBS-Max- .754" Trim-.754" < correct, they are the same, not type O. Lyman- Max- .754" Trim- .751" Only trim if over the maximum of .754" This measurement is taken After Full Length Resizing.

I started out trimming brass, but now agree, just not necessary.

It can actually be quite beneficial to accuracy in autoloader pistol. Poke around on the net, there are few people who've experimented with it and posted their results.

And I only trim .45 ACP, Walkalong......And revolver cases and only because I want a consistent crimp on revolver cases.

9mmX19? Don't believe I even bother measuring them...

If you'll simply talk to your bullets before the match, I've found that most 9mm are more than willing to poke a hole in the A-zone.

"If you'll simply talk to your bullets before the match, I've found that most 9mm are more than willing to poke a hole in the A-zone."

That only works if you use the right tone of voice............. If you hurt their feelings, they're just like kids and won't do what they're told.

I don't trim any handgun cases, other than a few Federal nickel 357 Sig cases that I insisted on using as a matter of principal.

Hope this helps.
