Here's Gabriel! Cimarron marked 1858 Remington in .44 caliber. The white balance is off as this is a cell phone, but ya make due with what ya got, right? :D

Thanks! Here's how I did my second time out. I'm just gonna blame it on having to recap the thing after every shot... it's a great gun, and looks like it will be more accurate than I'll ever be!

Congrats on the acceptance of your submission to membership in the 1858 Club.

Instructions for the secret handshake will be forwarded shortly.... :D

I've only shot mine two days. And shooting them in a CAS event on the second day sure as heck doesn't count as a test of accuracy :D However I found shooting at around 15 yards on the first day produced a 6'ish inch group that I was more than happy with for my first time ever at BP shooting. That and the solid feel of them when shooting made me an instant fan.

Like you I ran into cap issues during the CAS event. I found that the caps I'm using need a rather firm seating. Far more than I would have thought. But once I pushed them on HARD using a softwood stick they all fired consistently but for one known oversize nipple that held off the cap enough that I had to walk the cylinder around and drop the hammer on a second time for it to light off.

Also out of concern for how hard I was seating the caps I was wearing a leather glove on my support hand and taking great pains to ensure I kept my delicate digits away from the front of the cylinder for all the chambers during the seating "just in case".

Paranoid? Perhaps but it's now part of my percussion revolver routine and I don't plan on changing it.

That's not bad for a cell phone picture (and better than I thought a cell phone was capable of doing). The background makes it look Victorian. The lighting could be better, but hey, it's a cell phone.

From what Ginourmous found I tend to agree. But my mommy tol' me to never put my fingers in front of something that might remove them.... :D

Oddly enough my poor old mom, rest her soul, doesn't know I took up firearms since this happened after she was gone. But while she was with us I knew better than to tell her I was road racing motorcycles as well. No point in worrying the poor old girl after all.

Gary, the background could be less PINK too and it would look more Victorian... :D

It's my belief, that the odds of a cap going off, is directly proportional to how much of my hand is in front of the cylinder.
However, since I never cap with my hand in front, I can't prove this.:p
