My first cap & ball revolver, but surely not my last.

What a blast these guns are to shoot. I don't (won't, as long as I live in NJ!) own a single modern firearm, but I wanted something to have some fun while my wife is burning through .22s with her Browning Buckmark.
Not too bad for the first time out. Target was shot at 15 yards...18 shots. Loaded with 22 grains FFFg, lubed wool wad and .454 ball. Remington #11 caps are a bit loose...think I'll take a ride out to Dixon's this afternoon and pick up a tin of #10s to try. From what I've been reading, I think I can tighten the groups up a little more with a heavier load to get the ball closer to the mouth of the cylinders.

FyrFtr - a question if I may. That is a beaut looking '60. Did you order the Military model (ie set up for shoulder stock) or did you just like that one and buy it off the shelf?
PS - can you tell me if a slot has been machined out of the lower, underside rear of the butt heel please?
Thanks.
Tony

AussieTH, I bought it off the shelf. Didn't know they were available without the hardware for a shoulder stock?
Yes, there is a rounded (almost semi-circular) slot machined out of the rear of the heel.

Nice shootin'! !
What caliber is it?
They sure are fun to shoot. Before I got mine I'd have thought that the time taken to load and cap would be annoying. But in reality it's fun to tinker with it and then get to play.

Thanks! It's a .44.
To me, most of the fun comes from the tinkerin'. I also enjoy casting my own ball and making my own patches, lube, etc.
This is the closest to a modern gun I own. I also have a .54 flint GPR and a Pedersoli Queen Anne (flintlock) pistol. I'll be at Dixon's Gunmakers Fair in a couple of weeks trying to nail down exactly what I want in a custom flinter. My wife and son are the only ones in my family with modern suppository guns.
