Three laws and seven suggestions.

A lefty friend of mine loves to deride the Ten Commandments as "three laws and seven suggestions." The law says no killing, no stealing and no lying {except for Slickster}.

Character is not built upon not doing what you have to not do to stay out of jail. Character is built upon your actions when no one is looking. Therefore, it is the "seven suggestions" that, if adhered to, form strong character.

Long ago it was said that our form of government could only "make it" if it was administered by men {read people} of courage and character.

Everyone knows that the Liberal agenda has the destruction of liberty as its focus. To destroy liberty you have to undermine the character of the people to get them to accept their collars and cages. Thus the Liberal focus on getting the Ten Commandments out of public view and out of any discussion.

I can see why TTC was kicked out of that courthouse in Alabama. It created a "hostile work environment." Imagine how it muct have felt to those lawyers and politicians passing a monument everyday that said "Thou shalt not steal."

Yeah. Those commandments are a drag on lawyers and politicians, aren't they.

Your friend is silly to say they are suggestions. Just because they are not codified in secular law doesn't mean God was just giving suggestions.

Yeah. Those commandments are a drag on lawyers and politicians, aren't they.

Well, the first 3 commandments have no place in our legal system as if followed, they blatantly discriminate on the non-Abrahamian (is that word?) religons.

If you are concerned about maintaining the good character of people, perhaps the judge could display something from I Ching or the book of Mormon. Or are you saying the rules must be Christian based?

It strikes me that not killing, not stealing, and not lying* make for a pretty solid character. What else would you ask of me (and why should I provide it?)

- Chris

*- Lying isn't mentioned in the Ten Commandments. The bearing of false witness isn't quite the same thing.
