The same seller of a well-cared-for Korean War era Harrington and Richardson M1 Garand (with 320 rounds of Milsurp enbloc) also offered to sell a well-cared-for similar-era Harrington and Richardson Reising Model 65 .22 cal training rifle. Both have that lovely 60 yr old perfume about them, both are in excellent condition, and both have just the right slight finish wear and just the right amount of stock dings and darkening to quicken a Garand lover's pulse. The prices on both were very fair and they now have a new home.

(My son is on track to complete several major accomplishments in the near future and this set of rifles will be a congratulations gift from the whole family. But he doesn't know, so mum's the word ;) ).

The only thing with the Reising 65 is that the original front and rear sights were removed at some point to put on a weaver small ring scope. The scope is fine, and looks right for the era, but still... I'm pretty sure my son would rather have the sights because that's part of what the Reising 65 .22 trainer was for. I'd like to get some correct sights or correct style sights and let him have both options.

I'm not finding much in the way of Redfield model 70 sights or the front sight for the Reising. Does anybody have a source of supply for them?

Thanks in advance!

Did you ask the seller if he still had them? Maybe the gunsmith that did the mod is still around? Those guys are packrats that never throw anything away.

ADKWOODSMAN Will you share the price of the M1? Yeah, but you're going to laugh. For the Garand, the ammo, and the 65: $1K plus 2 gallons of pricey pasture herbicide PLUS a weekend of cleaning up an old cemetery on his ranch. I enjoyed the cemetery part: my son and I spruced up the graves of three Confederate veterans, among many others. This is a real antique cemetery: no burials since the late '20's, and the earliest birth date recorded on a tombstone was 1792.

I will as soon as I have pics. It may be pics of of them being held my son wearing his Civil Air Patrol uniform after receiving his Spaatz Award!

I don't blame you for asking, but no. Having a Korean War veteran part with them as a set for my son (even though my son doesn't know it yet) makes the set pretty special. So, I'd hate to break them apart. They are available, though. Keep your eyes on Gunbroker.com, for one.

Thanks! I'd looked on their site, but didn't find the part where you can call them to ask for specific parts not listed. I'll call them when they open... in three minutes! I appreciate the suggestion.

See? what a great forum! Thanks, everybody!

farmallmta-

You should head over to http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/

There is a Reising subforum there. As those that own Reisings are so few and far between any type of Reising talk is welcomed be it semi or full auto.

I think there are probably more full auto Reising owners out there than semi owners. The M65 is a highly prized, and sought after, addition to anyones Reising collection.

Please head over there and make your introductions, you will be warmly welcomed. The fellows there may be able to help you with the missing sights situation.

I post there as PaulF.

Congrats on your purchases I can't wait for some pics.

Thanks Paul... I'll head over there shortly! Same nick for me, if I can keep it.
